INTRO
Transcend is a relatively new brand for me. I actually stumbled across them on a google search return for 4GB secure digital cards. My query was due to the new drafting architecture in SD cards identified as SDHC. The information retrieved was highly enlightening. I was rather confident the NEW SDHC cards would be incompatible with my existing devices. However, I'm still somewhat uncertain whether or not the SDHC variety will work with the recent technology acquisitions I've obtained.
Straying a tad from Transcend I'll return to the issue at hand. The google return displayed a number of 4GB SD cards mostly SDHC but the Transcend link had the words STANDARD SD in its title. I followed through to a sight selling it for over $200 dollars. Obviously this wasn't a price I would conceive paying for flash media.
I turned to Newegg.com and there it was the identical card for a fraction of the cost. Most of my devices note a 2GB max capacity but I continued with the purchase.
I visited the www.transcendusa.com site though they had no information or the product to sell of this particular card above 2GBs. The 4GB SDHC version was available so I'm assuming the STANDARD version is extremely new.
You will find most of my reviews mainly positive. The reason for this is I'm rather thorough evaluating my needs and the product prior to purchase to avoid disappointment. I have my spontaneous purchases like the next guy too. Usually they are with companies I have had previous experience with it's one thing to make a spontaneous purchase, but, it's another to just be foolish.
Ive began including additional links in my reviews which allows you to see which products are functioning well together and those that arent. This may even aid you in making additional purchases you have been considering. The information may be whats needed so you can outright replace an item and pass the legacy technoloy on to someone else. Believe it or not one may out grow electronics like clothing. Something new and better is always waiting in the winds of time.
AN EXCELLENT VALUE
Transcend 4GB 150X Secure Digital For $38 an change at Newegg.com. Want to know more about Newegg.com follow this link to my review: http://www.epinions.com/content_302098648708. I shop with them a lot for the high quality products and outstanding pricing. I picked up two of these cards because I've seen them elsewhere for up to $268 each. Even with UPS shipping added I paid merely $42 a piece what a savings.
SECURE DIGITAL STANDARD & SECURE DIGITAL SDHC
These Transcend 4GB 150X Secure Digital are not the SDHC (SD = Secure Digital available up to 4GB, HC = High Capacity available as large as 32GB) versions they are standard version compatible with most electronic devices such as MP3 players, digital cameras, card readers etc.. I wanted secure digital cards that are backwards compatible with legacy electronic equipment.
ARE SECURE DIGITAL CARDS INTERCHANGEABLE IN LEGACY & NEW DEVICES
Standard Secure Digital cards will work with legacy and the new SDHC devices. However not vice-a-versa SDHC cards only function with SDHC enabled devices NOT in legacy equipment.
PLACING THE ORDER
I placed my order yesterday and as I write this review UPS just arrived. Newegg.com has been a reliable tech source and grass doesn't grow under their feet. I very rarely have to wait longer then twenty-fours for my orders.

? WILL IT FUNCTION IN DEVICES with LOWER GB MAXIMUMS?
SEE REVIEW AT THIS URL for addition information: http://www99.epinions.com/content_356462595716 (you may cut and paste the preceding URL to read my review) on the Fuji S700 7MP Digital Camera with 10X Zoom you are probably dying to know if this card functions well with the camera.
You need to check with your electronic devices manufacture maximum. But it has been my experience thus far that larger capacity memory cards may be utilized in quality constructed products.
Sometimes you just need try to discover what your electronics really can handle.
THEY ARE ENGAGED
ITEM ONE
My new Fuji S700 7MP Digital Camera with 10X manual states this camera will only accept a maximum Secure Digital card of 2GBs. Guess What? The Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash not only works perfectly in the camera it is fully recognized. The speed of the memory card appears with the brief testing I completed today to be as fast as the internal memory of the Fuji S700 7MP Digital Camera with 10X.
The engagement of Fuji's S700 7MP Digital Camera with 10X and Transcend's 4GB 150X with SLC Flash are a perfect match. Looks like they will reside together for a very long time.
ITEM TWO
My Gateway MX3702 notebook built-in card reader see no issue with the Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash. The Secure Digital card is recognized fully and is read and write to freely. People should note when purchasing a memory card that they will not see full capacity. This particular 4GB has a user capacity of 3.82GBs.
THE MARRIAGE IS CANCELED
Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash secure digital card will not function in Aiptek's multi-device 6 megapixel digital camera. The Aiptek does not see the card to even attempt a format. This Aiptek camera/camcorder is the 2006 model (model #: MPVR2K6)manul states the camera may support a maximum external memory of 2GBs. I have a 2Gb SD card in the device was hoping to double it I mainly use this camera as an MP3 unit and for those spontaneous Kodak moments where enlargement prints won't be required. This URL will take you to my review on the Aiptek MPVR2K6: http://www.epinions.com/content_220160560772 . Sorry, this marriage isn't going to happen no matter how much I pray it would.
WILL I BE COMPARING APPLES TO APPLES?
Using long period shooting there is a second or two delay between photos. I will compare the Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash to the Sandisk Extreme III 2GB Secure Digital which Fuji highly recommends for their camera. I know by the Fuji manual that a 2GB card will hold 568 images at 7 megapixels normal. The Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash at the same resolution holds 2279 not just double but four times as many images. For movie mode shooting this card could easily support approximately two hours of recording in high mode and possibly four hours at a lower resolution setting.
The Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash should also work will as READYBOOST in Windows Vista with its high speed rating.
LATE BREAKING NEWS
The results are in the Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash card will work with the Wii. I repeat, the Transcend 4GB 150X with SLC Flash card will work with the Wii game console. But the Wii will not accept a SDHC card. Wii user rejoice.
