| uranium233's Full Review: Trek 1200 |
I was thrown into the bike buying game on a limited budget and desparately wanting to compete in some local triathlons. The Trek 1200 triple represented my most realistic option.
I was given the choice of double or triple, and being new to road biking, I went for the extra chainring - just to make life easier as I get fitter in the saddle. Everything else on the bike pleases me immensly.
The gearing (Shimano Tiagra 9 speed) is smooth and simple, although it does seem like there are many gears packed onto the bike. At least it gives you a range of options. It is with checking that the bike shop sets up the gears properly, otherwise the chain may rub on the front shifter in higher gears.
The bike comes equipped sufficient for my training and racing needs and will probably remain in its original state till I see the need to improve - or rather, my performances improve. So far, very happy, and surprisingly speedy.
