I bought this bike a few years ago in anticipation for my first major bike ride, a trek across my home state of Iowa. Going into my local bike dealer, my first reaction was WOW...road bikes are quite expensive. This bike, however, was moderately priced (then at $650). As one of Trek's entry-level models, it features the quality and features of most brands more expensive bikes. Index shifting, rare on other company's bikes under $1000 is standard on every Trek road bike. The variety of available sizes provided me with the ability to order the perfect fit. The narrow 23mm tires would cause some to hesitate and go looking for a bike with more durable 25mm, but here the buyer has no need for hesitation. These tires and rims are an outstanding quality, mine have never been out of true. This bike's only flaws are frivolously picky things. The seat's cover isn't too durable and the handlebar wrapping that comes on the bike from Trek does not stay too well and needs replaced after a few thousand miles.
