Triple Paste is worth the Triple Cost

Written: Aug 16 '02
Pros:Odorless, fast acting
Cons:expensive
The Bottom Line: I recommend Triple Paste 100%. It's odorless and it's easy to apply and it works miracles on your child's tushie! Definitely worth the money!

It's absolutely amazing how word of mouth works. You will most likely NEVER see an ad for this product, Triple Paste, and you most likely NEVER even heard of it! But complain in a mommy's group about your child's extremely severe diaper rash that just won't go away and VIOLA'... somebody will swear by Triple Paste.

Not only will you not see ads for Triple Past (I do NOT know why), you will have difficulty finding it simply stocked on a store shelf. My local Babies R Us and BuyBuy Baby do NOT carry it. My local CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens do NOT carry it. My neighborhood "mom and pop" drug store DID carry it but only in the small size and they offered to order me the large size but made me PROMISE to come in to buy it because they don't normally stock the large size on the shelf.

Why? you ask. Triple Paste is expensive. It only comes in two sizes, 2 oz tub and 1 pound tub. The 2 oz tub will run you no less than $6.99 and upwards of $8.99. The 1 pound tub runs from $24.99 (Internet price) to a whopping $30. Let me assure you, it is completely worth the price.

My daughter developed a serious rash and it lasted about 4 weeks. She wouldn't even let us TOUCH her tushie. It was raw and raised and red. I tried so many different ointments including Desitin, Aquaphor, Aveeno, A&D, Cortaid & LotriminAF (we thought it was fungal), and two prescription meds, Dermatop and Loprox. Nothing worked. Then I mentioned it at Lindsay's music class and TWO moms told me about Triple Paste. I searched and searched for it and finally found it at abovementioned drug store. I bought the 2 oz tub that day and used it on my daughter that next diaper change. It went on easily and worked immediately. By that night, her rawness was gone. By the next day the rash diminished by 50% and by that night, completely gone. We were amazed.

INGREDIENTS

Triple Paste contains the active ingredient of zinc oxide - 11.6%. By comparison, my tube of Desitin contains a whopping 40% zinc oxide (I don't know why there is such a high amount of zinc oxide in the Desitin, presumably it should be good but didn't work for us.)
As for inactive ingredients, Triple Paste contains:
white petrolatum
corn starch
anhydrous lanolin
stearyl alcohol
white beeswax
cholesterol
polysorbate 80

Interesting recipe, huh? But it works! Each of the ointments I had used in the past contain some of these same ingredients however I guess in THIS combination it becomes a miracle cream!

USING TRIPLE PASTE

Triple Paste is completely odorless. Its texture is that of a dry paste and it slides on thick yet easily. You have to make sure the tushie (I am sooo technical, right?) is dry because if said child's tushie is damp, the paste doesn't spread well or stick. Think of frosting a cake... it's about that same consistency. But what is really great is the fact that it cleans off your OWN fingers very easily, not like the other brands. The tub says that it is gentle enough to use every day and it seems so since I am using it every day now. You will use it up fast this way but you won't be sorry. Some tushies are so sensitive, why risk another rash especially when your child may be teething or sick (or any other time that produces loose stools).

I initially bought the 2 oz jar but then bought the 1 pound tub. The larger tub is way more cost effective mathmatically. I tossed the small tub in my diaper bag and use the large tub at my changing table.

COMPANY INFORMATION

Triple Paste is made by a company called Summers Laboratories in Collegeville, PA. Their website is www.sumlab.com and their toll free number is 1-800-533-SKIN. Their label boasts the following two claims:
YOUR BABY DESERVES THE VERY BEST - which I wholeheartedly agree with.
MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - which I assure you that you won't use! LOL!! It says that Triple Paste is guaranteed to work better than any other diaper rash product or your money back. That's quite a claim but it is true.

BOTTOM LINE

Want to hear a funny story? When I went to the pediatrician recently, he asked about my daughter's rash. I told him that the two ointments he prescribed didn't help her but that I discovered this miracle cream called Triple Paste. He said, "oh, sure... we use that on our twins!". Guess he'll be advising using Triple Paste FIRST from now on before writing a prescription!

I can't say enough about this product. It is so worth the money at a time when you have a severe rash. It's hard to lay out that kind of money when your child is fine but when you need it, it sure is nice to have. At the very least, find out where it is sold so you are ready to buy it at a moment's notice!
