Pros: Huge Surge Power, Price, Quality, Quiet Muffler, Low Oil Shutdown, OHV Briggs Engine.
Cons: None really but is manual throttle so runs wide open at startup.(to-prevent-morons-from-putting-under-load-when-motor-not-at-full-speed-I-suppose)
The Bottom Line: I would recommend it to anyone. More than most people need and a great price for a first quality Briggs powered model.

| kenrcole's Full Review: Troy-Bilt 5550 Watt Generator with 10hp B&S Engine... |
5550 running watts and 8550 surge. Can't beat the powerful surge for the money. Available at Lowes and it was the best generator I could find for the money. Plenty of power to get you by if the power goes out for a few days. More than enough power for using power tools or camping. Has low Oil Shutdown to protect motor. I hooked it up to my house and tested it. Ran a well pump (1/2 hp), freezer, refrigerator, two furnace fans, all lights and microwave simultaneously without a hitch! Enough running time to last all night without a refill (5 gal tank). I think it's around 12hrs at half load. Has enough surge watts to start up multiple items such as refrigerators, freezers and well pumps and after they are running you could probably light up your neighborhood if you wanted. Pretty quite thanks to an oversized muffler, and 10hp OHV motor. I was able to carry on a conversation at a normal voice from about 10 feet away. OHV engine starts with ease. Plenty of outlets to get all the power out of the generator, 30amp 220v Twistlock, several standard 110v and breaker switches on control panel if you pull to many amps. Nearly identical generator available at Sears, Northern for a few hundred more. Comes with a heavy 10 gauge, 25' power cord that has 4 outlets and retails for $90 when purchased seperately.
