Pros: Rear Tine Design
Cons: No Throttle Control on Handle, and No separate control for Tines and Drive Wheels
The Bottom Line: The lack of weight, and the lack of CONTROL, that you have over the Normal operation of this tiller. It pains me to have to NOT Recommend this product.

| usairj's Full Review: Troy-Bilt 6.5hp Super Bronco Tiller |
My father-in-law, (6'4" 260lb man), purchased a new super bronco 6.5hp rear tine tiller from Troy-Built's website. We were fans of the Troy-Built name for quality. From the moment it was out of the box, it was apparent that Troy-Built was in trouble.
My Gripes are this,
#1 There is no throttle control to regulate engine speed on the handle. You must stop the unit, walk in front of it, adjust the speed of the engine based on experience, then resume the operation.
#2 The drive train and engagement of the tines are controlled by one lever. When the engage lever is lifted, and as soon as the tiller "bits" in to the ground it will "leap" and drag you. (It almost drug My father-in-law down the garden).
#3 As another reviewer has said it is too light, but the separate "engagement" controls, which are not offered on this model, could solve alot of the problem.
As for specific problems, The unit required a carb. kit immediately after the first "run" as gas poured through the carb. We contacted the warranty dept., only to be told "just carry it to one of our service centers they will take care of it." Fortunately, this was taken care of in about an hour and a half at a reputable Troy-Built Dealer who was quoted as saying "We have seen this quite alot with the new models, we are keeping the carb. kits in stock regularly." In all honesty, we knew the people at the dealership very well, this was why it didn't take very long to repair.
If you are accustomed to rear tine tillers, approach this with caution the first time you use it. DO NOT BE CLOSE TO ANY FENCE OR OTHER OBSTICLE when you FIRST start it up for a "test run". As another reviewer has said it is too light, but the separate "engagement" controls could solve alot of the problem. It will do a descent job "scratching" the top soil, but it will take you 2-5 times going over the area to get it done right. (unless you want, and are able to "fight" the tiller)
I was going to buy this same tiller, however, after using this one, I will go to a store and try them out first. Now my father-in-law is going to sell his as there is $50 restock charge plus shipping back to Troy-Built.
