Pros:Light and plenty powerful for almost any yard.
Cons:Could use a standard shoulder strap for longer trim jobs and better line control.
The Bottom Line: This light weight gas trimmer is more than adequate for most yards, and only needs a shoulder strap to be "perfect" for the price giving it a high rating.
This is a gasoline two-cycle 31cc straight shaft line type trimmer.

I looked at several trimmers both two-cycle and four, and decided to try a "cheaper" model to see exactly what features I would need before spending twice the price on a fancy 4-cycle or two cycle design. To my amazement, I was left with little to complain about using this model.
I trim two acres with 25 trees, two plant beds near the house, and a large driveway with sidewalk walk. The trimmer has plenty of power for the job. No, it won't trim high grass in an open field as well as some bigger models, but if you control what you bite-off, it will get the job done. You will get tired before the trimmer does. For heavy work, a bigger than 31cc model would be advised. But as a grass trimmer on a standard lawn, this is more than powerful enough.
1.0 The trimmer is MUCH lighter than 4 - cycle trimmers, 13 pounds.
2.0 Straight shaft is good for reach UNDER things where the bent shaft is best for sidewalk edges and horizontal trimming.
3.0 The gas tank has never run out on a job if I start filled. The tank looks small, but allows a decent run time prior to empty. Again, I've never run it dry on a job.
4.0 The trimmer head holds plenty of line (18 feet, two 9 parallel foot cords), and is easy to fill. I use 0.095" square line that seems to cut better, and last much longer than thinner round profile line.
5.0 At 40:1 gas to oil ratio, very little smoke is emitted.
6.0 Starting is best done with far less than the 10 times prime suggested. This seems to flood the engine and pretty much clear out every bug in the area with excessive smoke at start-up. I use five primes, and start with the choke "on". When it fires, I move the choke to half choke right away. After a few seconds on half choke the standard run position can be selected. I would rate starting good, as you do have to know your trimmer to get it to start right-up, but it has always started after a few easy adjustments to choke and prime pump amounts. Once running, it is a half-pull affair to re start it.
7.0 The trimmer is well balanced, but I do wish it came standard with a shoulder strap, it is light, but the feeling of lightness does diminish after half-hour of trimming. The lower handle can be set in a wide variety of positions, so even short armed people can get a decent handle on the trimmer. But, the shorter your arms, the more you will want the missing shoulder strap to offset the lower mechanical advantage of a
more compressed (lower and upper handles closer to one another) handle position. The shoulder strap also allows more precision in where the line goes. ANY gas trimmer will take away grass faster than you can believe, so control of the line is important.
All in all, this is a nice inexpensive trimmer that is plenty for most lawns. I do two acres, and a LOT of trimming and it hasn't let me down. I do advise a shoulder strap for LONG jobs and the four stroke (heavier) trimmers really need one.
