| jenlemon's Full Review: Tsingtao Brewing Co Pale Lager |
What's my idea of a fine evening after a lousy day? Heading for Chinatown and into my favourite hole in the wall restaurant for plates of sticky dumplings, spicy, gingery noodles, and many, (I emphasize 'many') bottles of TsingTao beer.
This beer will wash down your sorrows and any accompanying food beautifully. Its tangy, slightly fizzy texture is mild and gulpable and oddly soothing in your mouth, especially with spicy food. It is light and lacks the overly yeasty taste that dominates most American bottled brews. The lovely green bottle comes in an extra large size which means you get more bang for your buck, and unlike most beers, TsingTao tastes best drunk straight from the bottle -no glasses here please!
If you buy some at the store, do NOT drink until the bottles are well chilled. Served warm TsingTao metamorphosizes from zingy, delicious, lime-scented beer to watery, bland-tasting stuff that you wouldn't water your plants with. Its worth the wait -trust me!
I suppose I wouldn't recommend TsingTao to hairy chested Scotsmen or other people who only drink mud-coloured beer with a 2 foot foam on top, but for anyone who likes a mild, nice tasting beer that promises years of loyalty -taste what you've been missing!
