Cons:Doesn't work as well as other brands.
The Bottom Line: Try other brands of antacid for the same price. They taste and work better.
I have tried several brands of over the counter antacid for my pregnancy induced heartburn. One of my doctors recommended Tums so I decided to give it a try. First I took two tablets with no relief, and I munch down two more. Still my heartburn was still with me. I decided to wait an hour before taking another dose.

A hour passed and I took four more tums. Still no relief in sight. I had almost reached the limit for the day. Now I had a chalk taste in my mouth and heartburn. After a few hours I finally gave up on trying to get relief for my heartburn. The glass of cold milk gave me more relief than the eight tablets of the chalky taste that the Tums left in mouth.
Over the last few months I have tried several different types of antacid for my pregnancy induced heartburn. Tums rates on the bottom of the poll for effectiveness. The Wal-Mart brand of antacid rates on the bottom for the worst taste but does work. Rolaids does spell Relief like the commercials advertise. On the positive side Rolaids does have a good taste to it. I didn't notice the chalk aftertaste with Rolaids that I notice with Tums. Mylanta and Maalox antacid tablets work the best on heartburn. They don't have the best taste but it is bearable.
Would I buy Tums again? No, I would waste $4.00 on a bottle of Tums when I can buy other brands that work better for the same amount of money. Also if you are taking other medications and/or pregnant/nursing check with your doctor.
