Pros: Quality, smooth ride, very solid, looks good in the room
Cons: shorter stride than some but can be adjusted at the redals
The Bottom Line: I reccomend it, but try many machines and go with what is comfortable and in your price range. I love the workout I get, you will sweat!

| rcp1459's Full Review: Tunturi C6 Cross Trainer Elliptical |
I have owned the C6 for 2 months. It is a fine elliptical trainer. When I was shopping for one there were no reviews for this model. I had heard about the Consumers Digest article but could not find it.
I have used a lot of gym machines and up until recently owned a Nordic Track. The Nordic was passable but did not provide an intense workout and had little feedback. The C6 is as close as gym quality as you can get, maybe better with one drawback. Because of its compact size, the motion is a little bouncy. I am 5-9 with shorter legs than torso. Like the other reviewer my knees can hit the water bottle holder(Tunturi does not provide, but gives you the braze-ons for a standard bicycle water bottle cage). It really is a matter of getting used to it. I am 180lbs and use the machine for 30minutes, 4X per week. Now, the bounce is not as pronounced and the C6 makes up for it with its features.
The computer is awesome, much more variety and programs than either Life Fitness and Precor. I have only scratched the surface of the many different variations there are and especially nice is the customization of the HR programs. For example, if you choose a standard HR program, and it is too easy or too hard you can change it on the fly, then at the end of your time period simply press memory and it saves the changes you made. I think you can do it 8X and then re-save over existing ones.
As far as smoothness goes, it is a 9.5 out of ten! I just came back from a business trip and spent a week at a Hilton that had all Life Fitness products. Those ellipticals (I used different ones each day) had a little bounce also and were as stable as my Tunturi.
The fit and finish is suberb, I put mine together in about an hour. Directions were good but the type was small (I'm over 40 and refuse to get reading glasses!) The small size really is an advantage for home use. I have a big basement workout area and could have fit any machine in the room, but it is nice to have the extra room the C6 offers.
My advice is to try a lot of them, bring workout clothes and get a feel for each. I would hesitate to buy online simply because of warrantee issues. I got a 3 yr parts/labor deal from my retailer and paid about the same as the other person did. Try negotiating with the store, business isn't that good for them nowadays.
