I do not remember when it was that someone told me about Tupperware, maybe it is one of the unspoken words. Maybe I just knew! So...when I moved out of my mother's home it was Tupperware that I had to have.
A few years ago Tupperware came out with a beautiful new item called, "Classic Sheer 1 Gallon Pitcher." I just knew that I had to get it for my father. He used to drink a lot of iced tea and the size of the Tupperware 1 Gallon Pitcher was perfect for him.
THE PITCHER
The color of the pitcher is a very light white, frosty color. This enables the user to see what liquid is inside the pitcher, without opening the lid.
The pitcher has a very large handle that extends from the lip of the pitcher to almost two inches from the base. It is big and comfortable to grasp onto. With such a big handle it ensures controlled, safe pours. No more out of controlled spills.
The spout on the pitcher is another unique design feature. It is designed a little differently than most pitchers. It has a wide square like spout, with a bigger lip on each side of the spout, this is to help with the control when pouring liquid.
THE LID
The lid can come in several different colors. Tupperware usually gives their customers several choices of colors. When I bought my father's his, the lid was a soft blue. I own one too and my lid is a light pink lid.
The lid comes apart for easy cleaning. I have put mine in the top rack of the dishwasher and it still works perfectly. When you take the lid apart it will be in three separate pieces. I would call them the seal, the color part of the lid and the little depresser-thing-a-ma-bob.
These three pieces help with another unique design feature of the pitcher. It helps create and airtight seal. It creates such a tight seal that air cannot get in and the liquid cannot get out. But, remember this can only happen if you completely close the lid by pressing the center of the little depresser-thing-a-ma-bob.
MY THOUGHTS
I love the pitcher. I use it a lot during the hot months for iced tea (I am my father's daughter). It is perfect for sun tea, the picture allows enough sun to get through to make the perfect brew of tea. I basically only use the pitcher for iced tea or iced water. My family is not big on juices.
However, when I have had small parties at my home, I have made the margaritas ahead of time and simply used my 1 gallon pitcher to store the frosty beverage until ready for consumption.
On a few occasions my pitcher has gotten stained, but I simply wash it out with warm water and stick it in the bottom rack of the dishwasher and it comes clean with little effort to cleaning it.
One small detail that I do not like about the pitcher is how heavy it can get when completely full of liquid. I have to use two hands and hope that I do not drop the pitcher.
Overall, I love the pitcher. It fits perfectly on the bottom shelf of my refrigerator and I spend less time making more iced tea.
WARRANTY
As with most of Tupperware products, the pitcher has a lifetime warranty, "Tupperware products are guaranteed by Tupperware against chipping, cracking, breaking or peeling under normal non-commercial use for the lifetime of the product."
COST
I do not remember how much I paid for my 1 gallon pitcher since it was years ago. As with all Tupperware, it was a little on the pricey side. BUT you pay for quality and durability. I have had mine for a long time and there is no signs of aging.
Today the pitcher is around $25.00.
