Well to start things off I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to read my review and in advance for rating it. Also I would like to thank the many of you who have read my other reviews. Now onto the review! My main reason for buying this product was because I recently purchased a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier 2 door coupe which was not exactly babied by its previous owner. It had scratch marks mainly on the roof and trunk as if someone had tied a Christmas tree to the roof! In addition to this there were scratches on the hood from bugs, rocks and road debris. And last but not least there were some light scratches on the doors from those times too close to the holly bush or the family dog and things like that. So I went on the search for somewhat to remove these without repainting my entire car. I already had a high speed buffer so I knew I could buff most of it out along as I had a good compound. So I went to my local Auto Zone and grabbed a bottle of this and off I went to buff my car!
* Ease Of Use
I have detailed many cars in my lifetime (all be it not long yet) and I have used many waxes,polishes,scratch removers and such and I have to be honest this one was not the easiest I have ever used. IM not saying that it was very difficult but there are products easier to use on the market. As per the directions you are supposed to apply it in circles as with any wax or polish and that is what I did with my buffer on the low speed setting. After this step you are supposed rub the wax on in circles or with a buffer for approx. 5 minutes in order to evenly spread it over the surface applied to. Following that step your are directed to allow it to sit for "about 3 minutes" and then use a clean terry cloth or clean terry buffer pad to remove the wax. After that you are directed to gently wipe all surfaces of your car down with another fresh terry cloth as to verify that all wax deposits have been removed. The final step is not required but is recommended by Turtle Wax and that is to wash your car completely to remove the film that the scratch remover "may" leave behind and to remove excess was from the cracks of your car. Now the whole process sounds complex but when you are doing it actually goes easily except for the polishing where you have to remove the wax. This was is fairly difficult to get off. I highly recommend you wax your ENTIRE car when using this as the panels you wax will be a more vibrant color once waxed with this product.
* Effectiveness
Now this is one area that this product is truly living up to its advertising. As I said before I had numerous scratches on my car prior to waxing with this wax. After about 1 hours worth of waxing, polishing and washing my car looks brand new! I was truly amazed at the results I received. All except the deepest scratches were gone even the ones on the hood from road debris! The few that were left were beyond waxing repair due to their depth. The other great thing is that the shine this wax leaves on your car lasts and lasts. I waxed my car about 1 month ago and it still shines and I leave my car out in rain and sun due to not having a garage for it. To give you an idea of how much of a shine this wax provided my girlfriend even noticed that my car looked better and my girlfriend...well lets just say she doesn't notice much about cars. I know if she reads this IM dead :) Anyway this is a very very effective product if used properly and I was definitely impressed with my results. I have let a few of my friends try it on their cars and they also had great results with the exception of on he has a late model Mercury Cougar with acid rain damage and this didn't seem to help much but I don't think any wax will ever help him!
* Who Should Buy
I honestly would recommend this product to anyone that doesn't keep their car in a ziploc bag year round. If you are an average person and really drive your car then get a bottle of this. If you apply this once a month your car will look new for many years to come (outside anyway) I would especially recommend this to parents who's kids may have banged into the door or scratched it getting in things like that or if the family pet was in a huge hurry to greet you at the car like Dino is in the Flintstones! Last but not least I would recommend this highly to teens. I know this sounds odd but most teens want their car looking its very best and that is just what this will do for your car!
* Overall Satisfaction
Overall I have to admit that I am very satisfied with this product. I do have that one bone to pick with it about being hard to remove the wax film but other than that I was very happy. I honestly was skeptical about a scratch remover working at all on my car due to the scratches but after this experience I am pleasantly surprised at the results and will highly recommend this to all of my friends, family and fellow Epinions members! As always thanks for reading my review and I hope to see some of yours! DYQ685
