I remember as a teenager one of my chores would be to wax my dads truck and my step-moms minivan. Turtle Wax is what my step-mother praised upon and that is what I still use today for my car. It is the Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell that is Americas number one selling car wax and is great for clear coats and lasts up to 12 months. (taken from packaging)
Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Car Wax comes in a liquid form bottle of 16 ounces or in a paste form plastic can of 14 ounces. I have always used the paste form and never tried the liquid form. The paste comes with a sponge that you can use to apply the Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell with onto your automobile. The plastic can as I called it is about 4 ½ inches in diameter and 2 inches in depth. The paste looks mint green in color and almost reminds of the finger painting paint. It is thick in substance and you just need a little to go a long way. A regular can or bottle of Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell will probably last you about 5 years, since you only need to apply it yearly. There isnt a harsh chemical odor that you are exposed to from the Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell. It smells to me like paint or clay.
Turtle Wax claims that:
Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Car Wax for all kinds of finishes. Great for metallics, conventional enamels, and clear coat finishes. All cars need to be waxed in order to maintain or bring back their original lustrous finish.
Easy on, Easy off formula. Turtle Waxs improved formula provides the same great shine and protection without hard rubbing or buffing. (taken from packaging)
Wash and dry car. Moisten applicator thoroughly and wring out excess water. Apply wax evenly with circular motion, one section at a time and let it dry to a haze. Wipe off with clean, soft cloth, turning frequently. Buff lightly for gleaming luster. Not intended for vinyl, simulated wood grain panels, metalized plastics, trim decals, or flat paint. Do not use in direct sunlight or if surface is hot to the touch. (taken from packaging)
I remember in the old days, it took a lot of buffing and rubbing to get the wax off and this has been changed with their new formula. There is less rubbing and buffing. You do need to start with a clean car however and that takes about 30 minutes to completely do including drying off. Now on my 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, it only took me about 45 60 minutes to put on and rub off but on larger cars, it may take longer.
This is a big process and isnt done easily either as quoted. I have to say there is less rubbing but there is still a fair amount to deal with. You will have to take some time with the Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell or you will be left out in the cold, not shiny world. The small circular motions to put it on your car takes quite a bit of time, while the rubbing and buffing off also takes some time. So you put all that time together and you have a afternoon of waxing on your hands should you have a larger car than mine. My car is just a 2 door coupe which is smaller than most. I used to have the same model but a four door, which took a little bit longer than an hour, more like an hour and a half.
I cant sit here and compare this wax to another because I have never been exposed to another car wax. I do know that it is effective and does work very well. It kept my dads truck, which he just sold after 14 years, looking wonderful and new. I also know that it did the same for my step-mothers car as well until she sold it to my brother, who decided not to do more up keep. On my cars it has always maintained the shine longer than I expected. It was also easier to wipe away bird stains once waxed as well.
Overall I can see why Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell is the most wanted and highest selling car wax on the market today. It is cheap for one, only costing me $2.44 at Target. It is easy to apply and then take off meaning that you dont have to necessarily read any special directions. It comes with its own sponge to do the work when you buy it in paste form. And let us not forget that its WORKS!!! Yes, it makes your car shiny and new. Yes, you will love the finish that it leaves you with. And in case you didnt know, you can also use it on other finishes in your home, like your kitchen stove, refrigerator, garden tools, patio furniture and the lists goes on.
Lastly, your satisfaction is guaranteed. You can send in the unused portion to Turtle Wax. You can call them and add question or comment at 1-800-CARWAX1. You can contact them via email through www.turtlewax.com. It is completely up to you. You dont agree with me, then turn in what you have left and get your money back. What more could you ask for from a product???
So to sum this baby up, I would just like to reaffirm that I love the Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Car Wax. It has never left any residue on my car. It keeps my cars looking nice and new. And It does the job RIGHT! Thats all I need.
Until next time,
