Pros: Fevers Gone

Okay, to start out with, I rarely give my son medicine unless he absolutely needs it. I am a firm believer in letting the immune system do it's job and not over medicating our children. However, there are times when our body needs a little help.
So my son had a horrible cold and was just miserable. I remembered how well Tylenol Infant drops worked when he was a baby, so I bought the Children's Tylenol Cold Suspension Liquid with "the Great Grape Flavor".
Now let's start out with the flavor...
My son has never been afraid of taking anything I have given him, and never tried to get out of taking medicine. But one dose of this stuff did him in. He cried the second time I tried to give it to him and I had to literally hold him down and force him to swallow. I thought, "it's grape flavored, it can't be that bad", boy was I wrong. After the third failed attempt of getting it into his mouth and not on me, I decided to taste it myself. Yuk!!!! Green Nyquil tastes better than this stuff!!! I almost spit it out myself. So much for the "Great Grape Flavor"!!
On to the "medicine"......
Ok, so my son had nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezes, fever, and from what I could tell - was "achey". Everthing the medicine says it will "temporarily relieve". Now, an hour after forcing this gunk down his throat, he finally trusted me enough to let me hold him. I look down at his face and what do I see?...nasal congestion and a runny nose. Once again he starts sneezing, but hey...his fever is gone!!! Gee, doesn't regular Tylenol take care of that???
Now I was confused, Tylenol's infant stuff worked great before so why wasn't this working? And I thought this stuff was the same but more of a dose. I took him to the doctor to see if it was more than a cold. Nope, he had a cold and the doc told me to use Children's Tylenol Cold. Yeah, Thanks, but no.
