When I woke up the other morning feeling absolutely horrible from coughing all night with a tightness in my chest, I wanted immediate relief. However, I knew I had to get the kids going and go to work, so I didn’t want something that would make me drowsy. At some point in time, my husband must have bought Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation. It was the only thing I could find that indicated it would relieve the symptoms of my cough and not make me drowsy, so I took it. The dosage of Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation is pretty high - two tablespoons. In the cup which came with the medicine, it seemed like a lot. The liquid id a clear blue and thin, not thick like some of the suspension medicines out there. The idea behind the Cool Burst Sensation is that is provides a cooling sensation, I suppose for the sore throat. I can’t tell you if it works on sore throats since I didn’t have one. I can tell you that even if I did, I would never, ever take this medicine again. As soon as I took my first taste of Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation, my first instinct was to spit it out. The taste seems to want to be a minty, menthol taste, but it’s horrid. I forced myself to finish it but the taste it left behind in my mouth was awful. I went for my morning cup of coffee, but that didn’t taste right after drinking this, so I drank a glass of water to get the awful taste out of my mouth. Did I feel relief from my coughs? Some. I didn’t get real relief until I had Robitussin CF Cough Syrup later that day. However, the damage had been done with the two tablespoons of Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation that I’d had earlier in the day. As I sat by the computer at work I heard my stomach rumbling and soon had to make a run to the bathroom. This continued for most of the late morning and afternoon. I know it’s not from the other medicine because I’ve been taking that since that first dose with no problem. The cause of my diarrhea was the Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation. As if that wasn’t enough to turn me off the medicine, upon researching this review I found out that although Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation is marketed and labeled as a “Daytime” medicine, there is a warning for it on the Drugstore.com listing that states “marked drowsiness may occur”. Although I didn’t get affected in that way, it seems that the whole idea behind a daytime medicine is that I don’t get drowsy. Had I know that, I never would have taken it to begin with. If you have a real enemy you want to torture, this would work great. However, for those of us who are really looking for cough, sore throat, or cold relief there are much better tasting medicines out there than Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat Daytime with Instant Cool Burst Sensation that don’t have me running to the bathroom all day. If I am taking a daytime medicine, I am expecting that it will allow me to function for most of the day. Between the warning about drowsiness and the lovely side-effect I experienced, there’s no way I would tell anyone to take this if they wanted to be able to go about their business.
