Pros:Silvia, Arlovski, Ortiz and Forrest Griffin
Cons:Nick Diaz
The Bottom Line: UFC 59 is one of the better UFC Championships. Ortiz Vs Griffin was an outstanding fight!

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.

Tito Ortiz; About two minutes into the first round he'll realize he shouldn’t be in the ring with me… (referring to Forest Griffith).

UFC President, Dana White

Announcers; Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg & Stephen Bonner

I have been watching the UFC since it’s debut. My brother and I considered trying out for the fights about fifteen years ago. Wrestling, Marital Arts and street fighting were a big part of our lives growing up in Northern California. Ken Shamrock spent a lot of time in Susanville California just east of us and Randy Couture grew up wresting a couple hours north of us in Oregon. Now a lot of our kids are fighting in amateur cage matches across the nation in mixed martial arts matches. These cage fights are very popular in California (Indian Reservations) and Oregon (Brass Knuckles). I still watch the UFC fights and I am a huge fan of this fast growing sport. I especially enjoy watching mouthy fighters with a couple wins under their belt get taken down a notch or two in the cage. After you watch a couple UFC Championship fights I don’t see how you could find baseball, football or golf interesting to watch again. Furthermore these fighters continue to refine their fighting skills as the sport progresses. If the fighter is not very rounded on his feet, striking, take down defense, grappling , wresting and kick boxing, they won’t last long in the octagon with the skill set required these days.

UFC 59 was a decent set of fights. A couple of the fights were really something to see. The Tito Ortiz Vs. Forrest Griffin was the most anticipated fight. Ortiz said he would whip Griffin and he couldn’t. He won by split decision after three rounds of all out scrapin! Griffin is a hard fast striker and Ortiz is the ground and pound man so it was fun to watch.

The other fight that stuck with me was the Andrei Arlovski Vs. Tim Silvia bout. I thought Tim might very well lose to Arlovski again and he very nearly did. They were clipping and jarring each other and recovering before their opponent could capitalize. Just a few seconds before the fight was stopped Silvia was almost knocked out. It was a crazy fight.

Evan Tanner submitted Justin Levens in a fairly uneventful fight as well. Sean Sherk defeated Nick Diaz. It was a disappointment to me. Diaz was on the defense all night while Monson chased him around the ring for fifteen minutes. Monson won. There was also a couple of preliminary bouts that were okay. Overall the fights were very good and certainly entertaining. The disc also comes with bonus features including pre-fight interviews and post-fight interviews with the main event fighters. I would recommend UFC 59 to any fan of the sport or UFC Fights.
