The Bottom Line: I've been really happy with other Umax products but this one is a dog.

I have an older Umax scanner at home that I have been nothing but happy with so when my office was looking to purchase a scanner, I suggested Umax. Boy, was I mistaken. We are already on our second 4450. The first was taking nearly 15 minutes to scan a 8 1/2 x 11 form in B&W at 100 DPI. The replacement is still taking 2-3 minutes to warm up and then another 3-4 minutes to scan at 75 DPI. The scanner always needs to "Warm up" even if you just finished a scan. Even more problematic is the number of times the scanner software has locked up or worse yet, crashed the computer. I went online initially to verify compatibility and download the latest drivers but everything was compatible, the new driver didn't help. There was no link to any 4450 support. This is a new model and it has no support?
