| jo.com's Full Review: Under Armour Women's Heat Gear Core Sports Bra 113... |
Before our summer trip I wanted a lot of wicking clothing. That included bras. I was tired of being soaked while hiking. I bought two pair. The first is the Champion Double Dry Seamless Sports Bra. The other one I am now reviewing. It is an Under Armour Heat Gear Core Sports Bra. The style number is 1135. I had read great things about Under Armour.
The claims:
The tag states that the signature Moisture Transport System wicks away moisture from the skin.
Im told it will keep me dry and my body temperature consistent in any condition.
This bras ideal use is in extremely warm weather. HeatGear (Trademarked by Under Armour and the line this bra is under.) will keep me cool and dry. Nearly a decade ago, Under Armour HeatGear, the original "second-skin" layer, sparked the revolution of performance apparel and rendered cotton T-shirts obsolete. Womens HeatGear is engineered with the Under Armour Fabric, a microfiber blend featuring our signature Moisture Transport System and reliable compression. Womens Heat Gear is designed to fit tight to your skin." www.goldmanbros.com/under-armour/under-armour-womens-heatgear.php
We are told that the Under Armour Women's Core 1135 provides added support and comfort during the most rigorous activities and work outs.
The racerback cut holds the straps in place.
The mesh back panel maximizes breathability.
It is tagless with what is called a flatlock seamed construction which we are told eliminates chafing and ensures comfort.
We are told that it is great for running, biking, yoga, pilates, spinning, step aerobics, lacrosse, field hockey, basketball and other intense work outs.
Wear it alone or under clothing.
Information:
This bra is made in the U.S.A.
It is made of polyester (70%) and spandex (20%).
The information on the bra says to wash it in warm in the machine with similar colors. Tumble dry on low; dont iron or bleach it. I wash it on cold on a gentle cycle which is what the website suggests. I also dry it on a drying rack.
Under Armour Sports bar is a compression bra like the Champion. That means there are no cups.
It comes in X-Small(XS), Small(SM), Medium(MD), Large(LG), Extra-Large(XL). I got the Medium. The tag tells me that a medium would fit a size 8 to 10 and have a bust size of 35 1/2 to 38. I tried it on in the store so I knew the medium fit me but I do fill the requirements on the tag.
It comes in Black, Pacific, Punch, White, Honeydew, Abyss, and Tile. I bought the Abyss which is a dark blue.
The look, what I like and dont like and my experience:
The claim that this bra can be worn alone is absolutely correct. It doesnt look like a bra and have more coverage than most two piece bathing suits. The Under Armour logo is on the bra both on the front and the back.
It has a slight V neck which makes it look stylish. The elastic band on the bottom makes the bottom of the bra pucker, which is neither good nor bad just a fact.
The bra is seamless and has no hooks or adjustments. On some bras this can be a problem if I need it tighter. Unlike my Champion bra, my Under Armour fits me like a second skin. At first I thought when I was thinking of reviewing both bras that I would say the Champion bra is more comfortable. That isnt really true. It isnt as tight. As Ive worn my Under Armour more and more I like the tight fit. There isnt a gap to be found yet it isnt uncomfortable. I do know its on though.
However the T back doesnt bother my shoulders like other T strap sports bras I own do. If you are on the large size of 38 I would go with a large. I think this size will be too tight for you.
The Champion bra is also a compression bra but has a semblance of a cup. In spite of my Under Armour having no semblance of a cup it doesnt flatten me like some of the sports compression bras do. I think it is flattering truth be told. Under one of my sports t-shirts or hiking shirts my breasts dont look strange.
Lets look at the claims:
We are told that this bra provides support and comfort during the most rigorous activities and work outs. Unless you are an A cup I dont see how you would be comfortable doing jumping jacks wearing this bra. Please let me know if you are a 36B and wear this to aerobics classes. I would love to know. Perhaps the fact it has a double lining might give me more support than a sports compression bra without this lining. Still you wont see me out jogging wearing this bra. You will see me hiking or biking.
My Under Armour Heat Gear bra absolutely does its job in the wicking department. I have made sure of that before I reviewed it. My bra might be soaked but my chest isnt. Like the Champion bra I really dont know if it regulated my temperature. I dont take my temperature so Im not even sure what they mean by that. When we are hiking even if it is early and hasnt reached hot temperatures I quickly sweat. Im hot. Perhaps since the moisture is staying away from me when I am done hiking I do cool down faster because my body isnt as sweaty if it would be if I had on a regular bra.
I mentioned the comfort already. I love the T-back. The back of the bra is mesh. I notice this mesh better when Im biking. It adds some coolness to me. When we hike I have on a pack so the mesh doesnt do anything one way or another.
Jos Final Thoughts:
This bra retails for $34.99. That may sound like a lot but if youve bought good sports bras youll know this is actually a bargain.
I love my Under Armour Sports Bra. When we camp I wash it out and hang it to dry. It dries in two days so I can wear it every other day and do.
This bra doesnt have the problem of the band that my Champion has. On that bra the band at the bottom didnt wick and I got wet under that area. That isnt true of this bra. I stay totally dry. The mesh even extends to the band. I love the way the band stays completely down on my body rather than curling up like some bras do.
Five stars. I will buy another for next summer.
Thanks for reading. Jo
