  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Durability:
  • Comfort:
Pros:Comfortable, great support, washes well, pulls sweat away from skin.
Cons:Some may consider it expensive … impossible to find in red.
The Bottom Line: Want support without the sweat? Under Armour Heat Gear is the best pick for athletes, fitness junkies and weight lifters.

When it comes to working out and a womans body, breast support is something that most overlook – that is – until its too late. I learned the hard way that having a good sport bra has nothing to do with the way it looks, in fact, looks should be the last thing that comes in to play when picking one out. Over the years I’ve worn almost every sport bra and top on the market, never really finding one that had all that I wanted and needed. I won’t lie or try to cover up the fact that I have implants – never have, never will – so for me a quality sport bra isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. For those who are well endowed naturally or at the hand of a crafted plastic surgeon, investing money into a sport bra that will offer you the support you need will pay off in the long run, tenfold if you do any type of cardio as part of your exercise regime. The Under Armour was suggested to me by one of the guys at the gym when he heard me complaining that none of the regular sport bras were comfortable and at the same time functional. After doing some checking around and reading about the product I realized that this is what I’d been looking for all along.

Under Armour Heat Gear Sport Bra

The biggest perk to this sport bra is that it will help to pull sweat away from your body. All of the Under Armour products are designed to do this and until I started searching for information about the line, I was unaware of how many different products they made and how widely spread they were used. Outside of it pulling sweat away from your body, the straps are exceptional and don’t cut in to your skin – of course you need to get the right size for maximum comfort so if you are thinking about buying one of these, try to find them locally at a sports store so you can try them on. After that, take advantage of the online offers once you’ve found a size that suits you. Don’t be afraid to jump around when you are trying it on – that’s the only way you are going to get a real feel for it and to gauge whether or not you are getting a proper fit. They are offered by cup size but sometimes what you normally wear will be too small or too large so please, try them out locally and like I said, give it a jiggle or two.

The inner lining is soft and doesn’t rub those oh-so-sensitive areas like some of the cheaper sport bras, slipping it on and off is easy and the bottom band doesn’t fold or bunch up – a real plus if you do a lot of crunches or abdominal work. For me, the under arm area is always a problem, some are cut so high that it chafes your skin and some are so low that, if you have any kind of size, you lose a lot of support. This one is perfect – it hits about two and a half inches below the armpit [sorry, there’s no pleasant way to phrase that] and the small piping on it keeps it in place so you never have to worry about it sliding around. Take all this into consideration – then add into the mix the fact that this pulls moisture away from the body – almost eliminating the possibility of chafing from sweat. During the summer months when I hit the gym I sweat, and not just that “oh, I’ll just dab myself off with a towel”, no, this is comparable to being in the desert on a 120 degree afternoon kind of sweat. I’m not the least bit embarrassed to say this – because it might be something that another woman suffers from – but I get small pimples on my back – mostly where the ribbing of the bra hits my mid back.

For me this fits like a glove, for some it may be a little too snug for comfort. But sometimes you have to have that type of fit in order to protect your assets – and trust me when gravity comes knocking you’ll be thankful you paid a few extra dollars for a quality sport bra. Oh you might laugh at that now … but just wait it will happen. The cost of this is about $30.00 so don’t fall over when you see the price tag. Is it worth it? I think so and frankly speaking, so do my breasts. I’ve had the cheaper sport bras and they served their purpose but they did nothing to pull the sweat away from my body. If you are someone who sweats a lot then this is definitely a product to look into purchasing. The Moisture Transport System works like a charm to keep surface sweat to a minimum even in the most humid of conditions and hottest days.

Colors

This is only available in three colors; white, red and black but I’ve yet to purchase one in red in a store or online – any that I’ve seen online in red have always been listed as out of stock or no longer available. I have the white one and recently purchased a black one but haven’t had the chance to give it a proper test run as of yet. The white one washes nicely and I figured that after twenty or so times though the machine it would start to show some signs or wear or at the very least some discoloration from sweat but so far it looks just as good as when I purchased it – not bad for a product that pulls sweat away from your skin.

Things To Know

* This shouldn’t be confused with Body Armour’s similar sport bra – the criss cross version with a long dip in the back. I tried this one and didn’t care for it at all, the straps rolled on me and it was cut a little too low around the arm to support my breasts during a work out. The fact that this bra is about eight dollars less than the criss cross version still puzzles me – this one gives you a lot more support and the back straps are more comfortable. Go figure.

* You can read more about this awesome line from Under Armour by visiting their main website at www.underarmour.com or go directly to the site just for women by visiting www.underarmour.com/ua2/ua_women. You’ll be able to check out the complete line, get sizing information and even order a catalog.

The Bottom Line

If you take working out seriously and aren’t satisfied with your current sport bra – but it a support issue or something to do with excessive sweating, I highly suggest checking out this bra. It takes a real beating without showing any signs of wear, washes nicely and is well worth the suggested retail price. Look at it this way, why pat $10.00 for a sport bra that gives you a minimal amount of support and will start to fall apart or become stained from sweat when you can pay $30.00 for something this is going to not only protect you but will outlast every other similar product on the market. Gravity is out there … just waiting to strike so do yourself and your breasts a favor … protect them with Under Armour!

As always, thanks for the read!
