| hddan's Full Review: Uniflame 253303 |
A few months ago before going on a camping trip, I realized that I needed something besides just the good old fire pit to cook my food. Off to the store I went. That's when I found this nice portable grill, the Uniflame 253303 for about $29.
This is a propane fueled grill, that has a fairly large cooking area, and is a good size to use on a picnic table. It has handles on the sides as well as one on the lid that stay cool when in use. It also has legs that fold up underneath it when not in use, as well as a latch to keep it closed when carrying it. It's not very heavy either, I would guess about 7 or 8 lbs.
I liked this grill because it runs on small propane bottles, which can pretty much be found anywhere for about $3 or $4. It also has a warming rack that tucks up underneath the lid, and is large enough to cook 6 good sized burgers, or a couple of really big steaks.
This grill will definitely get very hot, and seems to heat up quickly. Fire it up, and it's ready to go in minutes. The flame is easily adjusted with a knob that attaches to a propane bottle. When lighting it, I would recommend using a match, rather than a lighter because it's much easier to reach the burner with a match.
I have noticed when using this, that the warming rack will fall off on occasion when you open up this grill. Trying to put it back on when it's hot can be a bit of a hassle. (they should look into redesigning this)
When cooking, the heat seems to be pretty well distributed, and your food is done pretty quick. 5 or 6 minutes is all it takes for burgers.
The cooking surface also cleans up pretty easy. Just use a wire grilling brush, or bring the rack in the house after it cools and use a little soap and water on it.
This Uniflame Grill does a pretty good job at its intended purpose, and seems as if it is built to last a while.
