Pros: All-in-one. Good software. Ability to download/upload waypoints, maps and tracks with ease.
Cons: map accuracy not so good. Have doubts about the accuracy of the Magellan software.
The Bottom Line: Good Radio. Excellent emergency beacon function. (Sign up for your yacht ID). Great, accurate GPS. Speedy lock-in. Good machine. Magellan map software weak.

I have owned the Uniden® Mystic Handheld VHF/GPS GPS Receiver since it was released last year. There is a software (firmware) upgrade on the Uniden.com website.
This machine has an incredibly accurate mapping function. I took my family out for the July 4th fireworks in Charleston, SC from Charleston Harbor to the Folly River in our pontoon boat. The software effectively leaves a "crumb trail" of dots, or with a few button presses you can save waypoints. It was absolutely pitch dark on the return trip and the water was rough. Because the situation was less than optimal, I simply would have never been able to find the way back without a GPS. (This one has a large screen and great battery life.) The trip took us through a number of creeks and dozens of turns through 360 degrees. After a point of being nervous about trusting the machine, but having no night vision, I had to put my faith in the Mystic and steered by watching the screen rather than the very vague marsh grass ahead. It got us home without any problem.
Included Magellan map software is not accurate. Errors of a couple hundred feet. You can live with it, but I'm hoping for an update.
