| germank106's Full Review: Uniden PCD2000A Cell Phone |
Not being happy with our new cellphone provider, we were looking into those pre-paid calling plans, some providers offer. Around Christmas time we saw Uniden Cellphones advertised at a local Store for $4.95 if you use their pre-paid service. We liked their rates and purchased two phones, one for myself, one for my husband.
While I stuck with a smaller, slimmer one, my husband - who is 6'4" wanted a phone that is sturdier and that lets him push the buttons with his large hands.
The Uniden 2000A is about 6 inches long, 2 1/4 inches wide and just about 1 inch thick at it's widest part. The display measures 1 1/2 by 3/4 inches. The phone with the battery weighs about 8 ounces.
The phone comes with a detachable antenna, an earphone plug in and an external charger. With the deal we got, we also received a free case and handstrap.
The display itself has a 20 Character/number display, signal strength indicator and Battery strength indicator. All displays are easy to read.
The manual explains all functions in detail.
This phone can store and recall up to 50 phonenumbers. Numbers can be stored by themselves or with a brief description of the location (i.e. HOME 555-1212).
Some other features include:
Automatic redial - limited to 4 times.
Password - to protect against unauthorized use
Timer features - times last call and total calls made
Low battery signal - lets you know your battery needs to be re-charged
One touch emergency dial - call 911 by pressing a single key
Absent call counter - registers incoming calls while in standby mode
Electronic volume control - lower or raise the volume of the dial and ringing sound as needed.
Mute button - mute your phone when needed.
Illuminated Crystal display - Display lights up during darkness.
If you live in the country like we do, clarity and reception are often problematic. This phone offers exceptional clarity and clear reception most of the time.
Battery life with the supplied battery is about 15 hours in stand by mode, but stronger batteries are available.
This phone is a little too large for my taste, but my husband absolutely loves it. The buttons are spaced further apart (just right for large fingers) and are larger than on most cellphones.
