We happened to get a copy of a few movies to watch this cold and bizarre winter, and one of them was a movie that was in the theaters sometime around Christmas if I understand it correctly. It is called UNIDENTIFIED.

This movie was produced by Five&Two pictures, and it is a RICH CHRISTIANO film.

I have seen a few of his films and some of them are more engrossing than others. They are fun for a Saturday afternoon or a time when you want to watch something with the family but don't care if it is really GOOD or not.

WHAT IS THIS STORY ABOUT?

UNIDENTIFIED is a story about two reporters that work for a magazine called "BOTH SIDES" which supposedly shows both sides of issues.

The two reporters, Brad (Josh Adamson) and Keith (Johnathan Aube) are at different sides of an issue- they are told to report on recent UFO sightings in the Southern US.

They are sent to find information and gather material for a story from witnesses to these sightings. And there is an undercurrent of vicious competition and back stabbing to get this story out between the reporters.


The story starts with War of the Worlds- the radio show that sent a panic through the world back in 1938 and goes to the present day.

There are various supporting roles including the award winning Christian singer Rebecca Saint James, who in my opinion did not really add much to the story at all.

Offered in the movie are various explanations for the UFO abductions and phenomena along with mild thought provoking dialogue.

Any more information would spoil the movie's plot and conclusion. Suffice it to say that the movie is about the struggle of the two reporters to gather information and the competitive spirit of the one reporter to undercut the others with an amusing conclusion.


MY IMPRESSIONS

This movie reminds me of the Saturday matinee movies on TV when I was a kid- sometimes monsters etc. The movie is not BAD, but it really is not GREAT either.

It is amusing, fun to watch to a point, but still rather hokey. I was pretty tired when I watched it so I had a hard time keeping interest.

However, at the last quarter of the movie, I did enjoy the pace picking up with an unexpected twist.

I must say, however, if someone is not a church raised person or does not know about some of the stuff that was in the LEFT BEHIND series, they might not totally understand this movie.

The acting is all right, but nothing stellar.

I would say that this is a campy Saturday Afternoon Family movie that is just mindless entertainment with a few mildly thought-provking scenes. I think that it could have been done better, but again, it could have been worse too.
