Pros: Amazingly powerful and versatile; high defense and attack powers; good point value
Cons: No range
Wonder Woman is, without a doubt, the premier female superheroine with a longevity that has lasted for almost 70 years thanks to her incredible popularity. But she still hasn't reached that respect and lofty status as both Superman and Wonder Woman, even though she is considered to be part of that "Holy Trinity" for DC Comics. WizKids really gives the Amazing Amazon her due as Unique Wonder Woman shows what she is made of in the DC HeroClix: Unleashed game set.
When Superman disappeared from public view in Kingdom Come, many of the superheroes from his generation started to follow suit. Wonder Woman went back to Themyscira, the island of the Amazons also known as "Paradise Island." Throughout the ten years that Superman has sent himself into exile, Wonder Woman has been to only person to still be in contact with him and constantly trying to make him change his mind about his place in the world. It finally takes a catastrophic event to convince Superman to return into action with Wonder Woman as his second-in-command as they reform the Justice League.
Wonder Woman is said to be almost as powerful as Superman and it shows with all the abilities she displays on her dial. It helps when she has ten clicks of life (out of twelve). In fact, out of all the active clicks that she possesses, only three do not have any powers at all. That's really impressive for any HeroClix figure. Nobody wants to be on the receiving end of Wonder Woman as she begins with six straight clicks of Charge. This is a woman who will bow down to no one at all. And if that wasn't enough, if you get her really mad, she will attack you with Flurry four another four clicks. This allows her to attack twice if she chooses to do so.
Equally impressive is her +13 attack value for her first dial. This is on par with Superman. In fact, her attack value down the dial doesn't deviate too far from the Man of Steel, even though she is only one click lower than he. For the first three clicks, she displays her warrior-trained techniques with Blades/Claws/Fangs. This combined with Charge is not something an opponent wants to receive for not only can she attack while moving, she has the potential to do some serious damage. So while Superman can kill you on his first click, Wonder Woman can pretty much do the same thing as well if she makes successful attacks. After that, she displays Super Strength for the remaining seven clicks.
Here's where Wonder Woman outshines Superman. Her starting defense is 18 and she has that value for the first two clicks. Even more impressive is her ability of Defend. She can share her defense value with any teammate who is adjacent to her. So imagine if she was standing next to Superman. All of a sudden, he has a defensive value of 18 (rather than 17) to go along with his Impervious power. Who in their right mind would want to attack him now? After her three clicks of Defend, she moves into two clicks of Impervious, two clicks of Invulnerability, and ending with three clicks of Toughness. Obviously, trying to keep Defend alive is the true objective of the game as she can really help lower defense teammates.
Wonder Woman dishes out a consistent 3 damage to her opponents straight down the dial. While this may be a bit unfair considering that she is stronger than she looks, don't forget that she possesses both Blades/Claws/Fangs and Flurry. These abilities allow her to dish out 6 damage to everyone if she is successful! Her first two clicks are dedicated to Leadership while the next five clicks demonstrate her power with Close Combat Expert. She receives an extra +2 damage if she attacks any opponent adjacent to her.
There is no question that Unique Wonder Woman is such an underrated figure. If both she and Superman are on the same team, many will go after Superman leaving this warrior woman unattended. I love her golden armour reflecting her Amazonian role in the Kingdom Come storyline. Her Kingdom Come team ability makes it harder for opponents to approach her. I think she needs more Invulnerability to ensure longer play time. Her sculpt is definitely a great take of Alex Ross' depiction of her in the story. Her only downside is the lack of any range to attack opponents from afar. I would figure at least three or four to indicate that her magic lasso is also a great weapon to use in battle. Alas, she is just stuck with her armour and sword.
