A good mid-level tire for the money

Pros: Solidly made;rides quietly;handles well;seems to have good wet-weather traction.
Cons: None that I can think of at this time.
The Bottom Line: this tire is a good combination of quiet ride,solid handling and good wet-weather traction. I'll do an update on how this tire performs in snow and icy conditions.

I needed a new left rear tire,as the original factory tire lasted almost 70,000 miles and the tread was worn down to basically nothing. So off I went to research tires.
First thing I found was that no tire retailer will sell you a tire that is smaller than the OEM tire.They also will not sell a tire with a speed rating less than that of the original tire.Depending on where you buy there is a large difference in price,as with any consumer product.
I wanted Michelins but the cheapest ones I could find were $153 per tire-a little steep for me. I decided to look in the $100-$125 price range.I went to BJ's Wholesale Club where the location nearest to my home has a tire center. I told them what kind of car I have,the technician took out a large manual,then pointed towards a row of tires.
In the 205/55R16 size,there were 3 choices- General,Uniroyal,and Michelin. Prices were $66,$98,and $153, respectively.I chose the Uniroyal Tiger Paw 205/55 R16 91H as it is rated to last 70,000 miles;the technician said it would take an hour to install. I went shopping and came back.
Im happy with this tire.It looks good,rides quietly,handles well,and seems to have good traction in wet weather.I can't comment on winter traction ;i'll do an update at a later time.
Total price with tax,disposal of old tire fees,etc was $123.
Update- the most snow in my area so far this winter has been about 5 inches. traction seems to be fine so far.
