anotherkatie's Full Review: Sony Ericsson w580i Cell Phone
Sony Ericsson's W580i has been my faithful companion of 2 years now. This was my first phone ever. It is very user friendly and straightforward. The menus are very attractive and themes for the phone can be found online to give even more visual interest.
I'd recommend this phone as a first phone because it is so simple. The menus and buttons are a little harder to navigate however if you are used to a Motorola or LG phone.
The W580i has an excellent camera. The pictures I take on it can be used for scrapbooking, the quality is excellent.
This phone has some fun applications- excellent for when you're sitting at a bus stop or just wasting time. The fitness application can be especially useful. It's interesting to see the number of steps you take each day (assuming you always have your phone with you). And why not take the w580i with you everywhere? It's the perfect size for your pocket.
The sliding features is fun for bored fingers and protects the number keys. I've heard that some people have had their number keys crack, but I don't have a single crack in any of mine- even after 2 years.
The w580i seems pretty durable. Mine has been dropped, stepped on, dropped, taken apart, dropped, spilled on, and did I mention dropped? The only visible damage from all of this is one cracked front button that still works fine, and a back plate that snaps on a little crooked. Neither of which have altered the performance of the phone.
Let's not forget the music player though! It is truly excellent. Walkman has designed the phone to perform better as far as music quality than the ipod. I will not buy an ipod, it would be put to shame by my phone's walkman.
The battery life is really pretty good, so long as you keep the bluetooth turned off when you're not using it.
The call clarity was initially just fine, but I've dropped my phone so many times that on occasions calls get pretty fuzzy.
There are tons more excellent qualities, and a few drawbacks of the Sony Ericsson w580i, but I could basically write the user's manual for this phone. So if you have any questions regarding the phone, please comment and I'll get back with you.
