Pros: Versatile looks, applies beautifully, nice case with mirror, brush applicator with smudger
Cons: Does not last AT ALL. Expensive.
The Bottom Line: A fabulous eye liner with a fatal flaw - it simply does not last. What good is the perfect look if it's gone by the time you're out the door?

| amyk49's Full Review: Urban Decay Ink For Eyes Zero |
Eyeliner is one of my must-do makeup steps, and I've tried so many types and brands, from the cheap stuff to expensive, pencils, powders, creams, you name it. I had to try this offering from Urban Decay, just to see if it might be a holy grail eyeliner.
~ Product Description
Here's what Urban Decay tells us on the packaging: Urban Decay Ink for Eyes is "more precise than a pencil, more forgiving than a liquid. Cream eyeliner allows for more control, play time, and buildable coverage. Create razor-sharp lines, or smudgy, bedroom eyes."
Urban Decay Ink for Eyes comes in a slim, stylish, impressive case with a flip-up lid. There is a mirror inside the lid, and dual tipped brush applicator that fits neatly into a slot beside the long, narrow pan of cream eyeliner. The applicator has a flat, slanted tipped brush on one end, and a smudger on the other.
This eyeliner is available in several colors. I have Zero, which is a deep, rich black. You can also choose from Binge (navy), Demolition (brown), Empire (purple), Loaded (green), and Pyrotechnics (white glitter).
I bought this online from Beauty.com for $22. Sephora carries this as well at the same price.
Ingredients: Ethyl Macadamiate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Talc, Silica, Nylon-12, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Silica Silylate, Kaolin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Palmitic Acid.
~ My Experience
I don't really wear extreme eye makeup, even at night, but I like the option to create a more dramatic look when I'm in the mood.
I couldn't wait to try Urban Decay Ink for Eyes. I LOVE the case, with its Peacock design on top. It was a tad hard to open though, but no big deal. It's very long and slim, and the brush applicator is hard to remove because you can't really reach in to grab it. Simple solution, just turn the case over and it falls into your hand.
The mirror inside the lid is also very narrow, but totally adequate for checking your makeup or reapplying - which might be a constant necessity .... hint, hint as to what's coming up in my review.
The brush end of the applicator is flat with a slant tip, that allows you VERY precise application. You can draw a super thin, sharp line, or feather it out. The smudge tip can be use to further smudge, but I discovered you can get a lot shading just with the brush. There really is a lot of play time to get the look you want with this eyeliner.
The eyeliner is creamy, rich and dark, and doesn't skip over the skin. It applies beautifully. Maybe with the brush it takes a little longer than with a pencil, but the look you get is worth it. You can build up the color for more depth, or leave a sharp line - it's easy to create different looks with this eyeliner.
Upon first application I was THRILLED with the look! Awesomely fabulous. With a little tweaking and practice you can get many different looks with this eyeliner.
Five minutes later - where the HELL did my fabulous look go??? I'm not kidding... well, maybe it was eight minutes, but huh? I wasn't rubbing my face, I wasn't outside in the sun, wasn't sweating, it wasn't hot, I applied to clean skin. I've never in my life had an eyeliner disappear so quickly. And I had applied it fairly heavily, for me anyway. I literally wanted to cry.
Well, it wasn't some kind of fluke, because every time I use Urban Decay Ink for Eyes, I adore the way it looks right after I apply, but it simply disappears within minutes.
Getting ready for an evening out I look longingly, hopefully, at my Urban Decay Ink for Eyes lying there in its cool designer case, whispering seductively, "Go on, use me, get that perfect look you've always wanted, maybe it will last this time." I WANT it to last. But it constantly, consistently lets me down. I give up. We're done, Urban Decay Ink for Eyes! ~ Final Thoughts Urban Decay Ink for Eyes creates a versatile, fabulous look, from daytime to dramatic. The angled brush allows for precise application, either a razor sharp line, or blurred and smudged. It comes in a lovely case complete with mirror. But it does not last AT ALL. What good is the perfect look if it's gone by the time you're out the door? I'm sure an eye makeup primer would help, and I might even try that. I cannot recommend based on my experience, but if you don't generally have trouble with eyeliner disappearing, or you're willing to use a primer, and the cost doesn't scare you off, then it could be great for you. You decide.
