I had no intention of buying this product- heck, I had never even heard of it! I own some Urban Decay items but have never tried anything in their face care, sticking mainly to eye and lip products. Plus, let's face it, this powder is bright yellow ... who in there right mind would buy it?!

Me - after a surprise makeover one weekend where a friend goaded me into a Sephora chair.
Urban Decay Universal Loose Powder is a loose powder in a sifter pot - something I enjoy using anyway, as I currently own and adore Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. The cutesy star on the top design I could do without, but it's not really impacting much - underneath the star design is a little clear plastic piece, so that the product cannot fall out through the star design. It also contains a thin, bright, purple poof (Urban Decay sure has a thing for colors, huh) which really hasn't been much of good for anything - then again, I hate all poofs and prefer to use a brush (it should be noted the makeup artist at Sephora used a brush also).
The powder is contained in the bottom portion of the sifter pot, and comes up easily when shaken.
From the Urban Decay website:
"There's no better way to finish off a look than with our Universal Loose Powder. It makes the skin look absolutely perfecto. Universal Loose Powder doesn't feel heavy or overdone because the powder particles are micronized, as in microscopic. So they float on the face and feel light. Apply it with the cute purple puff that comes with, or dust it on with our 100% cruelty-free synthetic brushes.
Universal Loose Powder comes in only one shade: Nirvana. And Nirvana is what you get when you use it. It's a beautiful lemon-y shade that works on ANY skin tone, so you can use it year round (without foundation in the summer!)."
Hmmm .... well since she picked everything that went on me, I sort of just sat back and relaxed, I mean it's not like I can see what she is doing. Until I heard a slight gasp .... "Kimm, that powder is making your face look less red!" Hmmmm ... it is I thought?
I have always been blessed (cursed, plagued?) with this odd skin. It's usually clear, but kind of sensitive. It doesn't like the sun, or really anything to touch my face. Each time I go outside my face will get a little blotchy. Each time I wash my face or touch anything too it, the patches on my cheeks "act" up. I've pretty much learned to roll with it. Heck, I save a ton of money on blush since I never need any!
The makeup artist then told me, and everyone around, that this yellow powder actually neutralizes some of the redness in skin. Hmmmm ... I had heard/read some about the "colors" people can you on their face - green, red, yellow ... but honestly it was a little confusing to me. But hey it was working!
I put it in my little Sephora basket - I didn't need another powder, but since I was getting all sorts of compliments I figured I might as well buy it! I have been using it now for about a month. It really is a lightweight powder, and I can't really feel it sitting on my skin. It feels very soft on. It is very wearable and easy to use - I just dab a little on my brush, and blend in. The yellow doesn't show on my skin (meaning I don't get "yellow" bits of powder) but it does in effect neutralize some of the craziness going on. I have worn it over foundation, over tinted moisturizer, and alone; and have been pleased with the results every time. Urban Decay Universal Loose Powder is 7 grams or .25 oz of product, and similar in size and design to many round loose powder pots I have owned.
I have really enjoyed this product, especially for summer use, and with a tinted moisturizer. It will be interesting to see how this product holds up year round. It is only 1 of 2 powders that I have owned and kept though, so that is saying a lot.
