Definitely one to consider, clearly ONE of the best

Ease of Use:
Pros: Bright, responsive, flexible, the ROTATE function alone is great. Good history. Sturdy, VERY adjustable.
Cons: NO USB, not a big deal.
The Bottom Line: A great monitor for its specs, display, endless height and swivel adjustments and ability to rotate screen 90 degrees. Working in Portrait mode is a great feature.
okpj's Full Review: ViewSonic VP930 19 inch LCD Monitor
I have had this monitor since October, 2006. I drove friends nuts looking at different ones and asking endless questions. But a friend of mine STILL has the predecessor of this unit and loves it 3-4 years later, and HE had to pay over $700 then due to the then current cost of technology. This unit is easy to set up and has great features. I agree that it would be nice if it had USB, but DON'T let that stop you from buying it.
The rotate function alone, which you can set up to happen automatically when you rotate the screen or through simply keyboard commands is great. Actually, Viewsonic does NOT market this feature enough, because MOST people are working on documents and they are in PORTRAIT layout, so why not use a portrait layout with your monitor. Also, many web sites are really taller than wider, and when using this monitor in Portrait mode, you simply do not have to scroll down nearly as much to view a web page.
I have found Viewsonic service to be good, certainly a genuine attempt to help me when I was struggling a little bit with using the monitor in dual mode with a laptop, etc. What surprised me was that with my OLD 466Mhz, Windows 98 machine, I could actually still drive this and since this monitor can be switched between two computers with a button push, that was and is a great feature, since I did NOT want to automatically take ALL my old files from old PC to new PC.
Very recently (this was written on 3-06-07)this monitor was rated as #1 by PC Magazine and it really deserves it. If you do NOT buy this one, please be aware of the differences in the specs. Ie, this has a contrast ratio of 1300:1 and a brightness of 300, these are specs to compare. I have a used 17" Viewsonic, which I also like, but it has lessor specs and indeed, I clearly see the difference.
I was told this is NOT for gamers, but I am NOT one so I have no reference point. The response rate is noted as: 8ms gray-to-gray (avg); 20ms black-white-black (typ) and while most of us could not tell the difference, there ARE some monitors out there that have twice the response rate, which means TWICE as slow, so while that is a subtle difference to most of us, I think it matters.
The currrent MSRP is $365. I paid $289 including shipping from newegg, so look around. I do agree the box packaging by Viewsonic could be better, so just look at it closely when you get it. Mine was fine and remains a great, great monitor. Turn if OFF when you are NOT using it, and cover it to keep the dust off, and I am convinced this will last a long, long time. Good luck.
