Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot.
This was a movie that we have found last minute and it was rather the best of the movies of all the ones playing in a drive-in theater we wanted to go to. The movie has been a great choice. I have seen a short preview of this movie before I went to the theater. The preview was interesting and stirred up curiosity. The featured presentation itself did not let down.
The plot is somewhat overdone and the basic idea of terrorists assassinating the U.S. President in Spain is a very familiar plot for recent wave of TV shows and movies. Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox are the big stars that make this movie more appealing. Dennis Quaid is the can do it all hero who is just strong enough of a character to live to the end and save the president and the world from the hands of terrorists, those who are on their side and traitors who pretend to stand for what's good but work for the bad side. The actor is just heroic enough from his previous movies for us to be convinced that he will survive and win the fight. When Dennis Quaid's character is involved in a high speed chase through a densely populated European city, he is being smashed with a large truck. I thought it was a stretch to let him live after that impact. I also thought that gadgets such as palm pilot looking remote with touch screen for employing target for the machine gun was an innovative idea.
The presentation was not at all lacking originality. Basically, the main plot of events has been replayed six or seven times, but every time they would go back to the beginning of the flashback, it would be shown from a different perspective filling in the gaps of the story to show what actually happened. By the time the flashback was on for the sixth time you know way more than you knew in the beginning and it all makes sense to you now. There are many details in the movie, even more characters, so it is like solving one giant puzzle piece by piece. First, I was a little frustrated with how the flashbacks would keep replaying the same plot but all in all it turned out to be a very interesting and original presentation with a lot of special effects, many interesting gadgets and breathtaking action keeping you on the edge of the seat for the duration of the entire show.
Overall, the movie was entertaining and filled with good action. There are a few emotional moments, there are a few moments when it is difficult to believe the change of strategy they have used in the movie but the creators of this motion picture succeeded in making an original movie and using modern movie making techniques to the fullest benefit. I recommend any movie viewers who enjoy adventure and action films to see this newest release.
