Pros: Protects important male pieces from injury
Also protects groin and lower abdomen
Cons: Adjustable belt isn't as adjustable as one would think
The Bottom Line: One of the best goalie cups on the market, second only to Brian's Altramax.

| penguinman's Full Review: Vaughn Vision Goalie Cup VGC 5500 |
When deciding I was going to take up roller goalie, I knew I could go cheap in a few areas to keep costs down. For obvious reasons, my cup was not one of those areas. I purchased this cup for a rather interesting reason, actually: after reading PuckMugger's review, I went to the store to buy a senior size Brian's Goaler, which the local store only carried in the fruitastic colour of leopard print. I asked the shop owner if they had a similar model in a more conservative colour, and she (!) came back with the Vision. Her comment was that it was black, so I wouldn't get strange looks in the locker room. I noted that it has a considerable amount of padding that the Brian's Goaler doesn't.
The Vision has a removable banana cup which is triple padded: One medium layer of padding on the exterior of the pouch; a thin layer of padding on the cup itself; and a very generous, comfortable slab of padding on the goalie side. This padding raises the cup off the important bits and transfers impact to the groin and thigh areas, which is A Very Good Thing (TM). The cup is held in place in standard jock fashion, with two nonadjustable leg looplets and an adjustable belt. The belt just barely fit me (size 34" waist), but then again, the listed sizes were 36" to 44", so I can't really complain. Those on the thinner side of things might want to go to the smaller waist size.
In addition to protecting the Family Jewels from rubber robbery, the Vision has a ton of padding above the cup. This is mostly foam, but it also includes a couple patches of padded ABS. This helps cover that awkward area right above the belt of goalie pants that the chest protector never seems to cover quite right; after having taken a puck off one of those pieces, I am very glad that they are there.
In short, the Vision has everything the Brian's Goaler has, plus extra padding, minus the questionable fabric pattern.
Highly Recommended.
