When I moved into my new house, the county had still not installed streetlights on my street (mine is the only house on there). My yard is quite big and I have two yard lights that do a pretty poor job of lighting the whole yard especially the one in the rear of the house.
I kept hearing rustling noises outside at night which freaked me out. I am a single mother so I am the designated protection in our house. My curiosity always gets the better of me and some day it will probably get me in trouble. I couldnt see anything with my regular flashlight so the next day, I went shopping for something a little more powerful. Whoever or whatever it was that was wandering around on my property at night would sure be surprised when I whipped out my Vector 1,000,000 Candle Power Spotlight and lit up my whole yard. Yes, I was brave, especially with my 12 gauge loaded and at the ready.

The Product:
For what I paid for this spotlight, it cant be beat. For $15.99, this product comes with a super bright, quartz halogen bulb, a 6 volt, 4.5, amphour sealed lead acid battery, a 110 volt AC adapter and a 12 volt DC car cord adapter. The light itself measures just over five inches across and the casing is the same width with a five and a half inch backing. Mine is black and yellow. I dont know if it comes in any other styles, as mine was the only one on the shelf at Ace Hardware where I purchased it.
It is made of a durable plastic, is water resistant and has a firm grip handle. It also has a unique little area light on the bottom of the handle. On the top of the spotlight, there is a fold-out work stand. If you turn it upside down with it folded out, you can work hands-free.
My Experience:
When charging the battery, Vector warns not to have the light on because it will damage it. I wasnt expecting long battery life from this spotlight as I had read the package before buying it. One charge lasts about half an hour, sometimes a little more. That was more than enough for what I needed it for. When turning it on, you can either use the trigger on the handle or lock the light on with the special button behind it. The beam of this light can carry up to one mile and lights up a room with a blare.
I would not recommend this spotlight for boating in the fog or a situation where you might need it blasting for prolonged periods because it just wont last. It is perfect for use around the house and yard though. It is also handy for power outages as an area light. What I really like about it is its ability to light up an area as big as my yard as if it were daylight. The center of the beam has a focus area of about ten feet at about fifty feet away, which gives you a clear view of what you are looking at. That is what I bought it for and it does a great job.
Oh, yes, typically, I didnt hear a sound in my yard for the following couple of weeks. I was always at the ready though and the night it did happen again, I got a shock when I lit up a huge mamma raccoon leading her babies across my yard. I guess it scared her because you couldnt see her or her young for dust once I shone this spotlight on them. I havent seen them since so she must have moved house.
Conclusion:
The Vector 1,000,000 Candle Power Spotlight puts out a super bright beam and is a handy tool for brightening up areas in the dark so you can see clearly. Because a charge only lasts about thirty minutes, its not for use for prolonged periods. I think this spotlight is a little top heavy which makes it become uncomfortable to hold after a while because it tires the wrist. However, if you are hearing rustlings in the dark outside, you can be sure you will know exactly what it is when you light this baby up.
A replacement battery for this spotlight costs around $10.00
