| jlhin's Full Review: LUSH Cosmetics Veganese Conditioner |
I have naturally curly hair that I have tried to keep as healthy and under control as possible. I used to have it chemically straightened, but, it was really doing some major damage. I have let it go natural for the past two years now and have tried many products to help tame it. I recently decided to go completely silicone free and switched entirely over to LUSH products, including LUSH Veganese Conditioner
Price & Location
Since the closest LUSH store is over two hours away, I do most of my shopping at lush.com. I purchased my large 16.9 FL OZ bottle of Veganese for $25.75.
What In The World Is A Veganese?
LUSH prides itself on making nearly all natural products, most of which are entirely vegan. They use minimal preservatives and packaging. In fact, a lot of their products are "naked" products, meaning they are in solid form and have no packaging at all. LUSH Veganese is a bit different in that it does come in a standard conditioner bottle with flip top cap.
Veganese, as the name suggests, is an entirely vegan conditioner made out of agar seaweed, lemon, lavender and even rosemary. This very unique combination of ingredients helps to soften hair as well as add shine and control. The seaweed gives it the feel of "slip" which you find in silicone based conditioners. This makes it a great transitional conditioner from silicones to none whatsoever!
Veganese is off white in color and a bit thin in consistency. I typically give my bottle a good shake to mix it all up and then begin using dime size amounts to start working through my hair. My hair is prone to a lot of tangles, so, I try to detangle while I condition. I end up using a little over a half dollar amount of conditioner each time. The one major downside to Veganese is that it does take more to get the job done. At nearly $26.00 a pop, this gets to be a pretty expensive product! However, the results end up being well worth the price.
The scent of Veganese is incredibly unique as far as conditioners go. I am used to floral type scents, or even fake type citrus scents. Veganese is a true lemon/lavender combo. It's slightly sweet, slightly tart and slightly floral. It's hard to describe! Once I rinse it leaves a soft scent of true lemon on my hair that lingers for quite some time.
The Results
Transitioning from silicone based hair products to ones that are "cone free" is a bit challenging for the first couple of weeks. As expected my hair was a bit difficult to manage, almost as if it was going through silicone withdrawals! Fortunately after about two and a half weeks my hair calmed down and I was amazed with the change. It is now soft, shiny, manageable, and beautiful. I can't say enough wonderful things about going from silicones to no silicones!
Veganese is the perfect conditioner for transferring over, or, even if you aren't! It has enough of that slippery feeling to feel like it's working through, and it performs exactly as LUSH promises. My hair always feels soft and always has a remarkable amount of shine. To put it simply, my hair just looks healthy. Having natural curls that look shiny, have bounce and look full of health is an amazing thing! I am proud of how my hair looks and have no problems wearing it down now. Veganese has helped transform my hair.
Overall
I highly, highly recommend LUSH Veganese Conditioner. It is a supreme conditioner that helps to soften and add shine. Seriously give it a try!
