Pros: Clear Tight BASS. Great with Movies and Music!
Cons: It's BIG. It will shake your house down.
The Bottom Line: This is a high end sub at an affordable price. Tight enough for sensitive music and enough bass to shake the couch into the street.

| doneal_work's Full Review: Velodyne CHT-15 Subwoofer Speaker |
What can I say... WOW. I'll start by saying it's overkill. I love lots of wall shaking bass in my movies. Having said that, you still have to have some sound up front so it doesn't just sound silly. I have a large room 20x18 which has a 12' opening into the second largest room in our house. After adjusting the phase and crossover level to match my speakers I set the sub's volume knob to 2.
This sub provides much cleaner tighter bass than my smaller 300W 12" JBL. I enjoyed the boomyness of my old sub for movies but, music sounded so bad I would just turn it off. Velodyne's sub sounds fantastic with music! The boomyness of the JBL in movies was made extremely evident when I watched my first movie. I was expecting the same results just more... it was a completely different experience. The new guy shook the entire room and roared (on level 2 mind you) cleaner and tighter than the JBL could at any volume. It really made me see just how bad my old subwoofer performed.
I don't know much about clipping or extreme levels.. I did turn it up to level 4-5 just to enjoy it's roar a few times and it didn't disappoint. I thought at first that the sub was rattling. I found out that it was everything in my house but the sub. Actually, it really seemed to be in it's element. Standing right over it was quite a treat. My bluejeans ruffled and my heart raced everything from wires on my stereo to blinds in the kitchen were making the rattle. The sub was clean and pounding!
It sounds great and it will eventually shake your house down.
I have also heard the CHT-12 @ circuit city. It sounded great and would have probably worked in my house just as well. It's smaller and much less powerful and for $50 difference... go bigger.
