robinet's Full Review: Verbatim Store 'n' Goâ„¢ U3 (2 GB) USB 2.0 Flash D...
I bought this flash drive without knowing what U3 was because of the name of Verbatim.
For those who dont know, U3 is an interesting idea to put some applications that you can run on any other system with your own settings (like a browser or an e-mail client).
BUT:
- this U3 thing comes on every time you plug your key in a system, so it takes quite a long time to finish loading
- it takes some space on your flash memory, at least 100 MB so you'll have in fact less than 1.9 GB for your files
- you can't delete the U3 core files (they are in a protected area of the memory)
- it has some problems in Windows 2000
This drive is quite fast, I get 12.5 MB/s on reading and that's quite good compared to other flash memory USB drives.
Unfortunately, the grey paint gets off easily and reveals ... the grey plastic case. And I lost two caps until now.
Is quite big in size, but well made.
It comes with a few U3 applications like ACDSee but you can download for free many more from www.u3.com
Don't lose the serial number of this key because you can get a few non-free applications from www.verbatim.com
