susidee34's Full Review: Verizon Approved Leather Case Cover with Belt Clip...
First I must qualify my status, I’m really not cell phone admirer. It boggles my mind to see kids riding around on bicycles with a cell phone attached to their ear. Seriously, how dang important can an issue be that it can’t be resolved 15 minutes later when they arrive at their friends house? Even more inane is texting. You have a cell phone, try human communication once in a while. With all that said, if you must have, have the overwhelming need for, a cell phone, then by all means give it a proper home.
If it were up to me, I’d never own a cell phone but, because I do a good bit of traveling between NC and Ohio, people insist I have one for emergency purposes. For that reason, and for communication while Diane and I are in a casino and can’t find each other, I own a cell. My prior phone, while a decent phone that worked well, didn’t have a carrying case of any kind. I didn’t want to be one of “those people” that walk around with their phone securely embedded in their palm but it turned out I had to be. Otherwise I always feared it would topple out of my shirt or pants pocket and maybe even get flushed down a toilet.
When Diane’s son went to work for Verizon we changed our years old Sprint contract over to Verizon which required new phones. Ed fixed me up with the Verizon Leather Case for my LG VX8360 cell phone. Now my phone safely rests inside a case which clips on my belt, pants, shirt, or whatever.
The case, made of leather, comes in two sections. You can choose to use only the back section which holds the phone in a secure pocket and has the belt clip attached to the back. There are openings in this pocket for your charger as well as accessibility to the other features on the side of the phone. The key pad cover is clear plastic, allowing you to completely view the phone pad easily. It also keeps the key pad free of extraneous dirt, dirty fingers, and the occasional squirt of water [exploding Pepsi, etc].
If you wish, the second portion is slipped over the upper portion of your flip phone, covering the screen in clear plastic with a visible area on the outside for external LCD viewing. This piece has a bridge that slips over the other section, snapping firmly in place. My thought is, why not protect the entire phone from dirt and so forth while also making it more secure in its holder by adjoining the front and back piece.
Of course you can use the top piece on its own, without the holder function. It still protects the internal and external LCD screens but it leaves that snap flap blowing in the wind and you have no way to secure the phone to your person.
As far as the belt clip, it is a money clip type which I’m still not comfortable with. I’m still afraid that when I sit down, the phone will be forced up off the belt and I won’t know it and then when I stand up, phone crashes to the floor. The clip does not swivel and it is not detachable. It is a strong clip and takes a good bit of force to slide it over the material you are hanging it from, which should make me feel more secure, but I still don’t. I’m constantly checking to make sure it is still tightly attached before I stand up. I don’t like the idea that a dang phone rules my life … I’m not a brain surgeon for pity’s sake.
I do like the look of the piece though and it is well constructed, my own clip fetish aside. The leather is soft and the clear plastic pieces are very easy to maintain. If a bit of fogging occurs, just lift the plastic and let some fresh air inside and it immediately clears up. The snap is very tight and holds strongly.
I probably wouldn’t be a good spokesperson for any cell phone company because I think it is something we don’t necessarily need and have become too addicted to. So if I think that a piece of equipment associated with cell phones is well made and highly functional, you can pretty much bet it is a good deal.
So if you are going to have a phone, find the appropriate protection for it to help keep it free of dust and debris and prolong its’ usability.
