In the Rochester area and much of Upstate New York cell phone service can be dodgy with the other companies but Verizon is not. Once you leave the city and head to more rural areas like Willamstown and Sodus Verizon is the only one that still has service and is not roaming. I have never had problems with dropped calls or poor reception and really have yet to be in an area where verizon would roam. Compared to the others Verizon is your best bet mainly because once you leave the metro areas service will still be there and not cause roaming or dropped call problems. The only problem would be its price for its lowest minutes plan which includes free night and weekend minutes you will probably spend near 50 bucks a month.
