Pros: Sensual, warm, powdery florals.
Bright Crystal by Versace is among my favorite floral fragrances. I have not yet purchased it as a gift, but it will end up gift wrapped for my wife at the next special occasion. Bright Crystal by Versace was released in 2006. It is a fresh, sensual floral that is alluring and subtle.
Bright Crystal by Versace opens with head notes of pomegranate, yuzu and iced accord. The pomegranate adds a fruity sweetness to the initial application. The yuzu (which is a Japanese grapefruit) adds a bright citrus quality to the fragrance. Accord, in fragrance, is when several notes are blended, so I am assuming that Iced Accord is a blend of fragrances that Versace chose not to delineate.
The heart notes of Bright Crystal by Versace are a combination of magnolia, lotus and peony. This blend of florals creates a strong middle. Magnolia is a sweet floral with a powdery quality. It is gentle but potent. Lotus is beautiful enough that I purchased pure lotus oil while I was in Egypt. It adds a clean water quality to the fragrance while accenting the powdery quality in the magnolia. The peony adds a lily-like quality to the heart of the fragrance.
Bright Crystal by Versace finishes with a blend of vegetal amber, musk and mahogany. The vegetal amber (normally obtained from tree sap) adds an earthy warmth to the foundation of the fragrance. Musk can go different directions in fragrance, but works well in this one, adding sensuality to the powdery florals. The mahogany adds a subtle woody quality.
It is a light, sensual fragrance that ranks high on my personal favorites. The large, three ounce bottle runs in the sixty to eighty dollar range, placing it at the higher end of the spectrum for perfume. My enjoyment of this fragrance makes this selection worth the money. It has a special quality that appeals to me. It would be nice if it were cheaper, but it's not. Four stars.
