AliventiAsylum's Full Review: Vicks Dayquil Non Drowsy Multi Symptom Cold & Flu ...
A bad cold just went through my house. Three of us had it bad. But I'm Mom and Mom still has to be Mom. I also have people who rely on me outside of the home. It's times like these that I turn to Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps.
The most recent package I bought from CVS contained twenty soft-gels. These are a bit bigger than many other cold tablets and most closely resemble a Vitiamin E capsule only larger and with orange liquid inside. Unlike taking Nyquil or the liquid version of Dayquil, I don't taste the medicine this way and it's also much more convenient to keep with me in my purse. I don't have a problem swallowing pills - I can dry-swallow usually if I have to - and I have dry-swallowed these capsules. However, their size can mean that some people might have trouble swallowing, so make sure you have plenty of water nearby.
The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years old is two Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps every six hours. (Under twelve consult a doctor before using). Dispensing this dose is easy as it comes in tear-off packages of two capsules (which is also child-resistant). I just tear it off and find the nearest water-cooler. A short time later, I'm feeling much better.
When I take the Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps it takes about a half-hour until I feel the full effect of the medication. My stuffy nose generally doesn't go away completely, but I am not sniffling all the time, nor do I have head congestion or the constant need to blow my nose. This past cold, I experienced a "tunnel effect" where my ears got stopped up so bad it felt like I was in a tunnel or underwater at times and having a hard time hearing. Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps cleared that up too in the same amount of time.
I never had a problem with drowsiness either. I have taken other supposedly non-drowsy products and ended up feeling beat-tired anyway. After taking Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps I could keep up a normal schedule and I knew I could function enough that my kids wouldn't miss any of their activities because Mom was in bed nursing her cold.
Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps are supposed to relieve the following major cold symptoms: nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, minor aches and pains, and fever. Sometimes it clears up my cough and congestion completely, and sometimes it just makes it so that I can still function without carrying a tissue box around with me. It depends on the severity of the cold. However, I can't remember a time when it's cleared up my sore throat. Usually I have to rely on a liquid such a Thera-Flu for that.

I'll continue to use Vick's Non-Drowsy DayQuil LiquiCaps as long as it keeps working for me. So far, it's the one non-drowsy medication I can count on not to make me drowsy and to relieve my cold symptoms at least to the point where I can keep up my daily routine. It may not be complete in the case of severe colds, but for me it's the best product out there.
