Have you ever overslept or been hung-over well that is exactly the feeling I get while hopped up on Vicks NyQuil LiquiCaps. This groggy almost illusive state happens nearly every time I use Nighttime Medicines associated with multi-symptom relief. The whole idea behind taking a medicine is to feel better, and while the drugs do help relieve the symptoms, again I feel that some of the side effects are a bit much.
Although it is clear that it may causes drowsiness, which may be a "wanted" side effect to help get to sleep, I find other issues with the drugs dosage recommendation. Another side effect I experience is a high feeling if I take 2 capsules.
However, the drug does what it claims in terms of knocking out some of the major symptoms it claims to control. Vicks does makes some excellent health products from drugs to rubs. Vicks NyQuil LiquiCaps is Made in Canada and widely distributed by Procter & Gamble here in the USA.

My Recommendation
Typically I take only one capsule at a time rather than the recommended dosage of two. This prevents some of the highness and grogginess I experience when taking two capsules at a time. I find that the drug acts fairly quickly in decongestion, and rapidly brings relief to aches & pains associated with colds & flu symptoms.
However, I use this product sparingly I find that grogginess does not mean sleepiness. If I want to be groggy Ill simply drink all night and get up for work at 4:00AM, which brings me to my next point the sleep I receive while on Vicks NyQuil isnt exactly REM.. (Rapid Eye Movement) Basically the sleep collected is more associated with an all night drinking sleep rather than a highly beneficial sleep.
Cold Fighters Unite
While experienced in the field of Common Colds, I have found a few things to ease my suffering. I drink a ton of clear fluids, juices, and hot tea. The tea breaks up my phlegm & sooths my sore throat, while the juices boost my energy along with the ability to fight the cold with healthy vitamins. That old saying "Feed a Cold & Starve a Fever" could not be more on the money, keep your strength even if you do not feel like eating make sure you nourish your body to give it the ability to combat that virus!
Truth be told, I have found that decongestants not only relieve the symptoms of a stuffed up noise, but the release prevents further plugging & infection of your ears & throat. So keep your health in check & take care of yourself.
