I bought the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife for a friend of mine who enjoys the outdoors almost as much as I do. When we walk in the Scottish hills together, he often takes it with him and it comes in really handy. I reckon it was a pretty good present, even if I do say so myself (and I do!).

Features of the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife ============================================================
Sharp blade - all the implements on the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife are pulled out from the main body of the knife. The blade and the scissors have little grooves in the top to pull them out by. The blade on the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife pulls out to a position that is in line with the handle and "locks" in that position. My friend uses his to cut food when we cook on our gas stove, but I suppose you could use it to cut just about anything.
Metal file - my friend and I rarely find ourselves stuck up a mountainside in desperate need of a nail file, so I really can't see the point of this implement. Perhaps if you kept it in the shed it might come in useful for metalwork.
Scissors - these fold out from the bottom of the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife and I have found them very useful. My friend uses the scissors to open up packets of rice and other food packets when we are out walking, and we also make use of them if either of us gets a blister or injury because they cut plasters and bandages very well.
Toothpick and Tweezers - these slide out of one end of the knife. My friend sometimes finds a use for the tweezers (like pulling out a bothersome splinter from his finger), but rarely is the toothpick needed.
Split Ring - this is on the top of the tool and my friend uses it to attach the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife to a loop on his backpack so he can find it easily. If you decide to keep the knife in the shed, you could use ring to hang it up on a hook.
Red plastic design - This might be a slight problem if your knife has to stand up to a lot. The Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife will scratch very easily and the plastic may crack if you really are brutal with it. I personally have a Swiss Army Classic Barleycorn knife, which is more expensive but will last forever. It really depends on what purpose you plan to use it for.
Attractive Design - The translucent body means that kids think it's "cool"; us adults think it's pretty smart too. You can see all the implements neatly folded up inside and the edges are nicely rounded. The Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife is probably one of the most attractive knives in Swiss Army's range.

The Verdict on the Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife
================================================================
My friend genuinely likes his Swiss Army Esquire Translucent Swiss Army Knife - he's doesn't just say that because I bought it for him (at least I hope not!). From my point of view this is great, but I'm not going to tell him that this wonderful knife only cost me $13! For information on similar knives, see Other Knives To Try.

Other Knives To Try
===================================
Victorinox Swiss Army Tradesman - loads of tools (and I mean LOADS) for only $38. This is also recommended, provided you aren't going to bash it about too much.
Victorinox Swiss Army Porsche Design Swiss Army Knife - if you hadn't figured it out from the word "Porshe", I'll tell you that this is a very expensive knife. For $150, I personally don't think it's worth the money.
Swiss Army Classic Barleycorn - This is the knife I have and I recommend it for those who want a really tough, long-lasting knife.
