| greyling's Full Review: Victory Hop Wallop |
Hop Wallop is Victory Brewing's entry in the most hoppy beer sweepstakes. According to the label legend Hop Wallop was created when a weary prospector tossed a handful of wild hops into the barley stew that was to be his supper.
Hop Wallop pours to a clear light gold and leaves some nice lacing. The smell is honey, pine and buttered toffee.
An initial slightly soapy taste is followed by a strong hop presence that is, again, dominated by pine, but with some strong citrus undertones. Rich caramel malts lurk in the background and prevent the beer from being overly hoppy and bitter.
A beer that tastes good solo and also matches excellently with really spicy food, such as an Indian curry, Tai food, or a habenero stuffed burrito
