hey!
I am going to rate this monitor even as I have not yet bought it!!
[I intend to, when my Yearly Raise comes, in April]
I stood, in some computer section of an office supply super-store.
There before me was a bank of monitors....over a dozen of them. the management had, today, a unique Display method....to have a master computer drive all of the monitors with one display screensaver photo, in a network of monitors. thus all twelve monitors showed the *exact* same picture, a picture of a mountain cliff enveloped with fog clouds.
I went from monitor to monitor, Comparing....
I made a small revelation! the Viewsonic A75f 17" showed a section of fogcloud where there was a dimpled pattern in it, a section several inches across where there was a very clearly shown dimpled cloud pattern.
Also, I spent ten minutes or more just Minutely looking at that pretty screen-saver photo, sensing that my eyes did NOT feel stained, even from four inches away from the monitor screen! I even apologized to a clerk, telling him..."please excuse me for standing here for ten to twenty minutes as i will be spending hours at a time at a monitor, I need to see how it goes with my eyes"!
All of the other monitors showed to me only a grey mass of one-colored
cloud, in that very same area of cloud!! This included even the other Viewsonic models! Impressive! I could see with my own eyes just how good this monitor is, with details! This was the ONLY monitor in that row that showed this cloud pattern!! VERY obvious, the dimpling was, on the A75f...but solid grey mush on all of the others!!
I currently own a cheap but fairly good EOC 15" monitor. I get some eyestrain from it. Especially with motions, like in games, where there is moving images where i must follow these moving images with my eyes.
there was another Day at this Superstore...where this bank of monitors showed a movie, where all of the monitors had the same movie. I spent ten minutes watching the A75f really close up: NO eyestrain!!
So.
this is how i can Judge a Monitor without buying it yet!!
