Pros: Compact cube design. Has the same 16x16x15 footprint of a 14" monitor. Crisp image definition and color.
Cons: Some flicker at higher resolutions; it would be nice if ViewSonic suggested a minimum video card requirement. I suggest having at least 4mb video memory for best results.

| rvamosi's Full Review: ViewSonic GS771 CRT Monitor |
When I shopped around for a new 17" color monitor, one stood out in the crowded showroom. Initially I avoided it, thinking ViewSonic's model would be more than I wanted to spend. I kept coming back and I soon recognized the GS771's exceptional value. Nothing in the showroom compared with the GS771 in overall image crispness or design. Even under harsh flourescents, its flat, anti-glare, anti-reflection 16" viewable screen offered superb color and image definition. The 0.27mm dot pitch is suitable for most business applications including desktop publishing and web design. Its short depth, almost cube-like design makes it 3" shorter in length than other 17" monitors, perfect for my cluttered corner office at home. I had better results after loading the optional CD-ROM drivers although the GS771 is Plug and Play+ ready. On screen menu controls handle horizontal and vertical controls plus geometry, tilt, degaussing, moire reduction and color temperature controls, making the GS771 easy to configure for custom use. The manual says the GS771 is flicker free up to 1028 x 768 resolution, however, I still notice a little flicker even at 60Hz H and 75Hz V, the factory suggested settings for that resolution. The GS771 is both PC and MAC compatible. It is Energy Star and NUTEK compliant and meets TCO '95 emission requirements. This model comes with a three-year warranty on parts, CRT, and labor. I know I'll upgrade my CPU before I upgrade this monitor.
