plomaris's Full Review: Visioneer OneTouch 5800 Flatbed Scanner
I bought this scanner because it was only $49.95 and had a $30 rebate. Well, it is a piece of junk. Sometimes it would work, most of the time it would not. It would often quit in the middle of a scan for no reason. Other times it would show as disconnected, despite the fact that I just scanned something with it! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers three times until I gave up.
The software isn't the easiest to use. Configuring the scan buttons is tedious, and does not allow you to assign a button to Windows XP's Scanner and Camera wizard.
Microsoft has it on their web site as "Designed for Windows XP". I don't know why they say that. I have XP and this scanner does not seem to be designed for XP. I don't know what it is designed for except frustration!
Needless to say, I returned it back to the store for a complete refund.
