| brammerkm's Full Review: Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic Acid) |
It all began when I read a review on epinions.com on Pantothenic Acid (aka vitamin B5) when searching (again) for something to help with my breakouts. I wasn't a member; in fact, I don't recall seeing epinions before. I am very happy I finally did.
The review--a testimonial--convinced me to try it. I ran out to GNC and picked up a bottle, just $13 for a 200-count 500mg supply at Nutritional Discounters store. The price was right. With some trepidation, which I seem to have become good at with all my practice, I popped the first three capsules (Yes, the cynicism had grown with my increased frustration with pimples).
I should interrupt my short "story" to interject that I did a little more research on the supplement and found a research study conducted by Dr. Leung back in 1995 (why has it taken so long to get to me?) in which subjects (people like you and I) were given 10 grams a day. That equates to 16 pills--yes--four times four a day! Astonished, I popped a few more.
After a week on the 16-pill-a-day regimen, I found I had won my war with acne. In fact, I lowered my dosage to six capsules a day with great success. Life is good.
If you decide to try this supplement (and oh my gosh why wouldn't you if you suffer with acne?), the study recommends you take it with food, though I've done both with no side effects. Now, I won't go into all the scientific methodologies (how it works), but there's a great review here on epinions that sums it up quite well, if you're interested in it.
One final note: GNC and TwinLab brands have been tried with success; the brand Solgar did not seem to be as good a brand.
Good luck.
