| munchiesdeli's Full Review: Vivitar ViviCam 3615 Digital Camera |
I got this camera about a year and a half ago at an auction for only 45$. This was my first digital camera purchase and I didnt know a whole lot about them. It had no instruction manual, and no USB cable. (what do you want for 45 bucks) But in less than half an hour I was able to work all the features even without the instructions thank you, and started taking pictures. I did find out that the USB cable is proprietary so I had to go to vivitar to order it. (10$ online with shipping)
The LCD was very nice, and I was able to view and delete unwanted pictures with no problem. The camera has a good feel to it. (i.e. doesnt feel cheep) The menu's are self explanatory. And there are several choices of flash modes as well as degrees of picture quality. It doesnt hold many pictures on the highest quality setting so I always used the next to best level. This gave me 42 pictures as apposed to only 10 at highest setting. I would suggest buying the flash card for extra pictures. It takes 4 AA batteries, which to me is a plus. This way you can always get more no matter where you are, and you dont have to worry about plugging in. Bad thing is, when you use the LCD screen to take the pictures like I do, it eats the batteries very very quickly.
When I got the pictures onto the computer, I was even more impressed. Other than a crop here and there, the pictures needed very little adjustments of any kind. The colors were good the clarity was good. I was surprised at how nice they looked even when I printed some off. Of course if you want big pictures then it might be a bit grainy. But for regular shots its fine.
So, as time passed I used less and less of my 35mm and more and more of my digital. However, as fate would have it, the digital camera came to an abrupt and premature death on a recent camping trip, so I was forced to purchase another digital camera.
I replaced my vivitar 2.1 mp with a 3.1 mp (different brand) thinking it would be better. Well I have since returned the 3.1 and am still in search of one that provides as good pictures as this vivitar 3615 did.
Oh how I wish I could have it back.
