Refine your Skin with Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser!
Written: Jun 8, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Gives your face a glow Non-greasy Manually and chemically exfoliates
Cons:particles are harsh
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser for refining skin effectively.
My favorite line of skin care products, M.D. Forte, is being discontinued. I contacted Allergen and was told the products were being replaced with Vivite products.
For the past several years, I have been using M.D. Forte’s Glycare Cleansing Gel for Oily Skin and have been pleased with the results. I purchased the last bottle in stock at my dermatologist’s office and began looking online for a replacement.
I contacted an online skin care company and was told by a representative that a good replacement was Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser.
Description: Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser is packaged in a purple and white box. The product itself is contained in a milky white plastic 6.76 ounce tube. The words “Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser" is written in purple on the front of the tube. The tube has a silver gray twist off/flip top cap.
Upon dispensing the white, creamy formula into your hand, you will feel tiny particles. The particles exfoliate the skin along with the glycolic acid in the formula, hence providing both a manual and chemical exfoliation to dissolve skin cells.
The consistency of Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser is much thinner than I expected.
This cleanser is recommended to be used only two to three times a week, which is contrary to what the representative told me. She stated I could use this product morning and evening, as I did the Glycare Cleansing Gel.
The product contains no fragrance, but I could detect somewhat of a creamy scent.
My Experience: Upon squeezing the cream into my hand, I was surprised with the thin consistency of the product. It is suggested to use a “nickel” sized amount, but it was so thin, I squeezed about a quarter size dollop into my hand.
The product felt very gentle when applied to my face, but upon lathering the formula into my skin, the tiny particles tended to feel harsh.
Exfoliating with this product is not a pleasant experience due to the roughness of the particles; however, upon rinsing with warm water, my face feels very smooth and not greasy. I detect a hint of a scent even though there is no added fragrance.
My Take:
I knew the representative who told me I could use this product twice daily was dead wrong. Even though the product is claimed to be gentle, I am sure I would have no skin cells at all if used twice daily when it is advised in the directions to only use the product two to three times a week.
I have been using this product approximately every three days. On the day I use the cleanser, I don’t apply a retinol product afterward. I feel both products would be too harsh if used on the same day.
I can see a visible difference in the texture of my skin. Hopefully, with long term use, it will prevent lines and wrinkles along with the rest of my skin care products.
Cost: I paid $31.20 for a 6.76 oz. tube of Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser with a 20% discount. I have seen Vivite products online for various prices from various online stores. I will do my homework the next time I purchase a Vivite product, for I found the same product online for under $20.00!
