| RONinPC's Full Review: Volkl Vertigo G40 Pro |
I skied Jackson Hole this weekend.
24 inches of fresh, accompanied by a PSIA intermountain demo team member (and Powder 8 champion), a Valdeze heliski guide, one of Jacksons Mountain Extreme team, and four other excellent skiers. So to say I skied Jackson is an understatement.
When skiing with a crowd so far above oneself, it is important to have exactly the right equipment. Luckily I did. I had a pair of Volkl G-30's and G-40's.
I skied the g-40 on Sinday, after we had received 9 additional inches. I was a bit concerned that the extra width would make the ski sluggish, bu tin fact I had no difficulty making turns in the powder, bumps and groomed. I would say that this is one of the more versatile tools I have skied.
Who is it for: anyone who needs a powder/crud ski in their quiver, a great 2nd pair to supplement your race ski.
Where does it not shine: I found more response from the G-30, which also has more versatility. I will not be buying a pair of g-40's, but I will get the g-30's. Of the two, the g-40 is easier to ski.
