Cons:cuts in and out, dials VERY slowly, lots of static at times
The Bottom Line: Find another phone! Though this model is inexpensive, you will still be wasting your money!
My friend recently bought me a new cordless phone for my birthday. She said that it was actually a present for both her and I. She would get frustrated my old cordless phone wouldn't hold a charge and would die when I was in the middle of talking to her. I was excited to have a new phone too.

So after reading about all the features of the phone I got the phone out of the box and set it up. I put the battery pack in the back of the handset and plugged the AC adapter into the base and then the wall. I wanted to let the phone charge for a full 24 hours as suggested by the manual to give the battery a good first charge so I didn't even plug the phone into the phone jack until the next day.
I was excited to see how the phone worked so after plugging it into the phone jack, the first call I made was to my friend who bought this for me. Almost immediately there were problems with the new phone.
There first problem I encountered was when I would be talking to a person on the line and they couldn't hear me. I would have to hold the phone to where my mouth was right at the mouthpiece for the person to hear me at all. If I wasn't holding the phone just so the caller would say that it was like the phone would just cut out and they couldn't hear me at all.
Another issue that I noticed with the phone was that it dials extremely slowly. Even if you use the redial feature, the phone dials unbelievably slow. It is like there is some kind of delay between the dialing of each digit.
When you are using call waiting with this phone beware! The phone seems to drop all callers on the other line before you can click back over to them. This has been extremely frustrating!
Also, one of the other problems that I have noticed was when one of my husband calls our house. It is nothing but static. It is almost like his cordless phone and my cordless phone are non compatible. I don't understand it, but we never had this problem with our old phone.
As far as the battery goes, the battery does seem to have a long life and will hold a charge for more than 2 days without being on the base. But, with all the other issues we have had with this phone, a good charge doesn't mean much when the person on the other end of the line can't hear me.
My friend who got the phone for me purchased it at Walmart. I think she said that she paid about $15 for it. After trying to use it for about three weeks, I wouldn't suggest this phone to anyone. Even though the Vtech CS5111 is an affordable option it is not worth any amount of money. I told my friend about all the issues we have had with the phone and she has experienced some of them being on the line with me so she said that she will take it back. I feel horrible! I hated to tell her that the thoughtful gift she got for me didn't work, but she was understanding and we plan to try another GE model that was comparably priced.
